Review: Beginner friendly, and amazing seller. Very pleased! - Product in great condition aside from the mentioned light wear from use. Customer service was very kind and prompt. They immediately refunded my express shipping payment when the delivery service had a sudden delay. (Though this isn't to say it's not worth it! I was assured the delivery service is usually very fast, and the delay was unusual.) The description was spot on, and I got exactly what was described to me. They even gave a little thank you note attached to the invoice that came with the package! As for the camera itself, it should be mentioned that I (the 19 year old daughter of the account owner), am a complete beginner with photography, and the most expensive camera I've even breathed near was one of those tiny things you can get for 40 bucks at target, so if you're a beginner, here's how it went for me upon my first day with the camera. I was a little intimidated, and obviously have yet to learn what all the buttons do, but everything is rather straight forward, with the different modes having descriptions displayed on screen. The auto focus is a bit funky, as it will sometimes not let me take a picture (This is most likely due to my own inexperience with a real camera.) But immediately I was able to take a great picture of my cat! I could see every little fur on her face! I plan to use this camera for both photography, mostly plants, animals, and stars, as well as live streaming. It works amazing as both a camera and a webcam, and I can already tell I'm going to be really happy with it! Kind regards, Mrs. G's daughter.
Review: I love mine. I've now had it over a year. - I got mine with the kit lens,...which I promptly damaged. I ended up buying a better telephoto for only a little more than I read it would cost to repair the old one, (hey, I'm the one who dropped it, I wasn't expecting it to be under warranty.) I have used it to take pictures of both fireworks and a lunar eclipse. Granted, autofocus did have some issues resolving under those light conditions, but it still managed to take good, sharp, pictures, despite being well outside of a "normal" use condition. The video will only record for a little over 12 minutes, which is unfortunate, but it IS a "Still" camera. The microphone is actually pretty decent. I've managed to use it for at least 2 hours at a time, taking over a hundred photos, all using the screen on the back and the autofocus, which says something about the battery life. (Although, in that particular instance, I DID have the flash disabled, as I was trying to be respectful of others enjoyment of the event, so no flash might have saved a little battery,..but not as much as using the screen for a viewfinder must have cost.) In short, I'm quite happy with mine, I would buy it again, and would heartily recommend it to anyone who was interested.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a good camera for a novice? I just want something easy that takes great quality for my son. I have no photography experience though.**
A: To be honest, I don't really suggest the T6 these days unless it's all your budget will allow. It is a good camera for a beginner, but I feel that it is outgrown pretty quickly. I personally suggest the SL2 instead (sometimes called the 200D). It is just as easy to use as the T6, is not much more expensive, and has several important advantages...

1. Better resolution - 24mp vs 18mp.
2. Better for video - The T6 does not use dual pixel AF and does not feature STM silent focus support. The SL2 does. SL2 also has a mic jack and the T6 does not. This is important for video shooting, even if you don't think you will do it a lot the SL2 kills the T6 for video. It shoots at 1080 with 60p, the same as the more expensive T7i, 77D, and 80D. The T6 is 1080 30p.
3. Flip Out screen - Sounds corny, but this is very handy to have. Screen can flip out and be turned to just about any angle, even to face forward on the camera. It's also a touch screen that makes it easy to change settings and change focus when shooting video as well as in live view mode. Makes getting low angles so much easier. It also has face tracking. This alone makes the SL2 a better value than the T6.
4. More Compact - The SL2 is much smaller than other DSLRs from Canon. Makes it easier to tote around.
5. Other stuff - Better burst (5fps vs 3fps), better ISO (25,600 vs 6400), better dynamic range (13 stops vs 11 stops), UHS-1 card support vs none, better battery life, wifi/nfc/bluetooth vs wifi/nfc, built in time-lapse mode vs none, support for Canon Camera Connect Ap vs none.

I feel like the SL2 is the best beginner camera Canon makes. It's simple enough to learn the basics, but also feature rich enough to still be useful after you have mastered them. All this and it's about 100 USD more than the T6/T7 base models.

**Q: I have a canon zoom lens 75-300mm. can i use it with this camera?**
A: It can; the T6 can use all EF and EF-S lenses. However, I think you will be better off avoiding this lens and going for the EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS STM instead. It is a little more expensive (about 200 bucks), but is a FAR better lens. The only thing the 75-300mm has over it is the 50mm of extra reach. The 55-250mm has IS, better image quality, faster and smoother focus, sharper at all zoom ranges, and a few other minor advantages like rear element focusing (front of lens doesn't rotate). Best of all, it will fit your camera! And while the 75-300mm is considered the worst lens in the Canon lineup, the 55-250mm is considered the best telephoto for under a grand.

If the IS STM is a little too expensive, then the older model, the IS II is still a decent lens as well, for a little more than the 75-300mm. If you want some more info, I have a review for that lens on my profile.

Hope that helped!

**Q: Does this camera have a timer so I can get in the picture?**
A: Yes, this camera does have a self-timer feature.

**Q: Which kind of cpl do you put on this camera? 55mm or 58 (I'm buying a gift and the lens says 18-55mm but also 58mm across)**
A: It isn't the camera that uses the CPL, it's the lens. The 18-55mm lens has a 58mm thread for filters, so be sure that your filter thread size is 58mm. I personally suggest sticking to good filters to avoid degradation of your photos. I like B+W, but Hoya and Promaster make good ones too. I actually have a review of the 58mm Promaster filter on my profile, if you want to see some sample images of it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fabulous DSLR for beginner and advanced photographers at a great price.
*by A***A on September 19, 2016*

This is my third Canon Rebel camera and I have loved all of them. This camera can be as simple or advanced as you'd like. My old one was still taking great pictures but this has the added bonus of wireless connectivity, which I love. The price is just about perfect. It's worth every Penney because the picture quality far surpasses that of the phone. When you want to take some really special quality pictures to preserve one of those important life moments, you'll be so glad you bought this. You can change and upgrade lenses, a thoroughly addicting hobby. My daughter has the more expensive and more heavy Canon 5d. That camera is a definite upgrade and she loves it, but at thousands of dollars, it's too much camera for me. I mostly use the auto function and the results are awesome. My daughter, on the other hand, is a photography and camera expert. She uses all the manual adjustments and knows everything there is to know about exposure and all that. Even she says this is a fabulous camera. There are plenty of fun tools as well!
