The blade has a high carbon content in the steel. It does hold an edge and is easy to sharpen. A drop of oil prevents rust and is not a big deal. To have a sharp knife is well worth the time to give it a drop of oil once in a great while. It opens easily with the finger flipper and locks in place. The pocket clip seems very sturdy..time shall tell. I've lost two knives due to cheap clips that would not 'clip' tightly on a pocket. Just a good pocketknife at a fair price!
