You get what you pay for. This thing detects no current unless you shove it all of the way into a plug. Even then, it must be the positive terminal of the plug. Shove it into the other side and you get no indication that current is present. Also, the light is pretty dim. It would be easy to miss in a brightly lit room and impossible to see in daylight.It's better than nothing but not much . . . maybe worse than nothing as it is quite capable of providing a false sense of security via false negative results.

It's not sonic but it is a screwdriver.
It's a screwdriver, fuse tester, battery checker, etc etc etc. It's no substitute for a GOOD test meter but it has plenty of uses and is ultra convenient to carry, keep one in the car to test fuses, keep a couple in the home for... Well, you get the picture, it's a handy tool to have.

I don't trust it
I think it works, but not really sure. Have to put my finger on the metal part at the top to get indication. This is a little disconcerting if you are checking 110vac.
