Quality cables, easy install
Cables were for a 7 ft garage door. DId one cable at a time. Had to adjust the 2nd cable drum after installing the second one. Replaced rollers at the same time. Door hasn't worked this well in a while. Operates like a new door! Very quiet...

Slightly different but still works great
I have a Raynor Pilot garage gate. The torsion cable began to fray on one side and I purchased this as a replacement. It's a very inexpensive option compared to calling a repairman and you can find videos on YouTube detailing how you swap them out. For that reason I'll let you look for the demo on your own and just supplement the video(s) with my observations. Before starting, I used a marker to indicate where the axel of the last roller on the gate was normally positioned with the gate fully open. I didn't wear gloves because I was working in a tight space and I knew I was going to have to feel the cable fall into the channels on the spool. I removed the damaged cable and compared the the old damaged one with the new replacement. The new cable was maybe four inches shorter than the original, so to avoid complications I replaced both left and right cables. This item was sold as a pair so that was ideal. The lead anchor slug soldered to one end of the cable was different in design from the original (the original was more like a cube and the new one was more like a barrel shape. The barrel didn't seem to lock onto place as positively as the cube did. Kind of a given because the hole on the spool was designed for a cube shaped slug. Irregardless of the shape, the tension on the cord helps keep it locked in place. I did need to bend the cable a little to get it to turn in the right direction while threading it. I used an extra long needle nose plier to finally pull the slug through the anchor hole. Once I had wound the cable around the spool, because the new cable was shorter than the original, I rotated the spool by hand to get the extra length I needed to put the cable loop on the anchor peg on the gate. Rotating the spool was not that difficult. There wasn't a huge amount of resistance. I followed the same procedure on the other side and I was done. I disengaged the gate from the chain/latch and closed/opened the door manually a few times to make sure everything was working right. I reengaged the chain/latch and used the motor to open/close the door. So far so good. I've been using the gate normally for a few days now and all seems well. And the final good sign... despite the cables being a slightly different length, the gate stops exactly where it did when I began the process. All in all I'm very satisfied with these good, affordable replacement parts. If I had to, I would buy them again.

Well made and hold easily a 7 foot one car garage door
Perfect replacement for my 10 years old garage door. One of my cables broke and I just ordered a new pair to make them fresh. Little bit tricky to put them on the wheel but it works perfect now. Well made, perfect size for a one car 7foot tall door and nothing else needs it to replace them. Thickness is perfect and the terminations are strong enough to hold the weight

7ft garage tension cable replacement
Your reading this review cause you lost 2hr of your life wasted going to HomeDepot/Lowes. Which they dont sell the tension cabel. Dont feel bad I did the same thing. Reconmended to be replaced every 10yr. Amazon saved the day. These are a perfect fit for 7ft garage door. Great quality. If you have issues or need to replace get these. But make sure you measure your garage door height opening.

Great value, larger diameter cable can make installation a little difficult.
Pros: Heavy duty, will likely last 20 years at least, considering my last, regular duty cables lasted 21 years. Cons: The cable diameter is larger than a normal garage door cable. For most systems, that might work just fine. We have a Wayne Dalton Torquemaster spring system that has a very different drum. The cable has to be fed through a small hole and then inserted into a slot and out the other side, where you tighten it down with a set screw. This heavy duty cable barely squeezed into the hole, it took a lot of work. Additionally, the larger diameter cable doesn't fit very well around the pins at the bottom of the door. It doesn't seat very well. Finally, because of the larger diameter, the cable doesn't follow the track on the drums very well, causing the cable to slightly jerk a couple of times when the door is going up or down. I needed something with same day shipping so I chose this set. Not even thinking the heavy duty would be a larger diameter - that's on me. All in all, I would buy this again if I needed same day shipping. Otherwise, I would go with the correct diameter cable.

Perfect Fit
When I walked into my garage and saw light coming from under the right side, I knew something was wrong. Fortunately, I was able to ascertain that it was the cables, and nothing more. I measured everything properly (VERY important) and ordered these cables. Using a few well-done videos from YouTube, I was able to use the tools I had at home to replace both cables in about 30-45 minutes by myself. The cables have worked perfectly ever since.
