Howard Products, Neutral Restor-A-Finish, 8 oz

Used this product to revitalize a pine bookcase purchased at a garage sale for $3, so did not have much to lose. The bookcase seemed to have been stored in a wet basement or outdoor storage shed so it was in poor condition. A very fine steel wool 0000 pad was used to apply, which worked well removing stains and defects. Total time commitment was less than an hour. The final result was better than expected with minimal investment in terms of product costs and time. Coverage was good, as approximately half of the 8 ounce can was used. As you can see by the pictures, the end result was slightly darker than expected, but still looks great. Thanks, Restor-A-Finish!

It doesn't 'refinish' but it provides an amazing change from ugly scratched to gorgeous finish. A cat had scratched a vintage secretary desk and I had put up with the eye-sore for years. I did not want to tackle refinishing myself or pay dearly for someone else to do it, so I figured I had nothing to lose and decided to try Howard Restor-A-Finish. I used very fine (0000) steel wool and gently rubbed as instructed. I was amazed how simple to use and the beautiful results. The mahogany color was perfect!

This product while not a miracle worker, did definitely improve the appearance of my late 80’s golden oak cabinets. I know they are considered “outdated” but we like the look of natural wood. Recently they were looking a little worse for wear, dull and dry looking in spots. In the past I have lightly sanded and brushed on a coat of clear poly with good results. I wanted to find something that didn’t require all that drying time. This fit the bill perfectly. It was very easy to apply & even though it warns about the fumes I did not find the fumes terrible. I did run the ceiling fan and opened a window. I have a smallish L shaped kitchen and the whole project was done in about an hour. It took about half the bottle. This product did well as far as giving it a good shine and evening out the color/tone of my most used cabinets that had worn down dry areas. It did not fix most of the deeper imperfections though (like I said, not a miracle product). But for the money and ease of applying, I would definitely use this product again.

This product is amazing! I bought it to fix up a few kitchen cabinet doors and drawers that are solid oak. What an amazing difference it made. And it was as easy as polishing a table! I definitely recommend this. I wonder if it would have been even better if I had used a fine sandpaper. I am happy anyway.

Be aware this is a TINY bottle. My fault for not looking at the size, this is 8 ounces, which is half the size of the ones that I found for a dollar more in my local home improvement store! I won’t be buying from this seller again, that is for sure. Having said that, as far as the product is concerned, it is AMAZING. In the attached pictures is the kitchen cabinet door in my apartment, top half gone over one time with Restore A Finish, bottom half only washed. Then are legs of an antique treadle sewing machine, this has been gone over with Restore A Finish, then Feed N Wax from the same manufacturer, I went over it a few times with each product, as you can see, the difference is remarkable. With the sewing machines I restore, I do not want to strip and refinish the existing finish, whenever possible since the existing finish is part of the history of these pieces and I value that history. Restore A Finish evens out and helps to tone the existing finish, to bring it back, without getting rid of that beautiful story the piece carries with it. I have also used it on my inherited antiques to bring out the beauty of these pieces. I highly recommend the product, but do yourself a favor and watch the price and the amount you are getting for that price and shop around if at all possible to find the best price.

Works great and ships fast! Attempted it on raw wood just to see the difference. It actually made the raw wood look better surprisingly. The already clear coated items I tested on had a richer color/hue that didn’t disappear overnight like some cleaner/refinishing products achieve. I consider this a holy grail product. Extremely pleased and everybody I know from the antique shop I work at will be ordering from this seller 😁 no leaking looks great, smells like nail polish remover but scent doesn’t hang around and the little bottle should last for a long time as a little goes a long way. Excited to try this on everything I come across…I might be a little obsessed now 😬

Previous owners of my house had kids and a dog that left the oak cabinets the worse for wear. This product was simple to use and the results were very good. Beat spending a fortune to refinish. Be aware, the fumes from this product are moderate. If you are sensitive to paint/varnish fumes, make sure you have good ventilation.

Volgens ons is het een soort olie want het doet niet wat er gepromoot wordt. We hebben het meerdere malen geprobeerd maar het werkt niet. Jammer
