The cards are a nice size and a decent thickness. The answer can still be seen if a bright light is shinning through it, but that can be avoided if you put it in front of another card. I love that they have both versions of an equation. So for example there is a card for 1-2 and 2-1. Some kids get confused when the numbers are switched. Perfect! I purchased the addition as well from this same company and I will be purchasing the multiplication and division in the future. They are bit pricier than some of the other choices, but the boxes they come in are sturdy and the card stock is pretty heavy duty. Worth it, IMO. But subtraction flash cards really need to be 0 to 18. Trend recognizes this, but you have to purchase the 0 to 18 flash cards in two sets. This set covers 0 to 12. You can do a search: "Trend subtraction flash cards" to find the 13-18 set.What I like about these flash cards is they are plain-vanilla. No frills, no color, one problem with the solution on the other side.Every combination of problem is offered. While learning, I generally "group" my math facts by families....i.e. 9-7 on one card, and then 9-2 on the next. If my son or daughter gets stuck, I give them a hint by showing the next card. It works quite well to jog memory, and to assimilate family facts. The addition ones are very straightforward - you get every addition combination involving 0-12, from 0+0=0 to 12+12=24. Saying that subtraction cards include "0-12" is a lot less clear, so let me help you understand what's included here. You get a set of subtraction cards that follow these rules:The minuend (first number) ranges from 0-24.The subtrahend (second number) will not exceed 12.The difference (answer) will not exceed 12.Problems that would result in negative answers are not included, so the card set forms a sort of triangle/pyramid where you start with a single card (0-0), go up to a 13-card series (12 minus 0-12), then shrink back down until you are back to a single card (24-12).
