Can the wire be hooked up to the system remote wire?

I have mine hooked up to the switched wire coming from factory, But i heard its better to just connect it to Constant (+)(red wire)

what is the blue wire for?

Connect it to an auxiliary power wire. I hadn't done that, and all I got were a few AM stations. Once I connected the blue wire to a red accessory wire behind my radio, all was well. Do it before you finish installation, and save yourself lots of time!
