Will it work on hair that is half & half black & gray???

YES....it will...the back of my head is more black and the front is very silver and gray. It worked very well and my hair wasn't brassy. I always follow up with a purple shampoo and conditioner for maintenance.

i heard the yellow out product that comes with it fixes the discoloration, my question is it permanent fix or the yellowing reoccure?

Because white hair is very porous, nothing is permanent. One should never use anything of a color you don't want in your hair. Therefore, though the yellow out does fix the green/yellow of the straightener, one needs to be alert of the color of the products you use, from volume, sprays, and anything... Beautiful silver hair is not the freedom I thought.
