Does it have the same smell as what was sold in the 80’s/90’s?

No. Since the addition of keratin, I find it smells awful and made my hair limp, fragile and not moisturized.

Is this brand sulfate free?

Not sure about that. Finesse shampoo and conditioner is the only 1 i can use on my hair without it feeling dry. I have used this for years and love how soft my hair feels after using it.
