JBL ProScan 25420 Water Test with Smartphone Evaluation for Freshwater Aquariums, Pack of 1

JBL Pro Scan is the very nice! Initial purchase price seems a little steep for what you get, however, I love the results! The app stores and tracks the results. Results are shown in a green, yellow and red feedback form and where your results fall within. Also shows tips for fixing the problem with their products (of course substitutions can be made.) It picked up on my lack of water change (two weeks :( ) Did water change across three tanks, all with before tests and then did after tests. The results of the second test showed what I would call very appropriate results for having done only a water change. I recommend this little test kit.

This is a great app that helps with my fish tank water changes and helps me determine algae and toxic spikes in my tanks. I recommend it to all tank owners.

This is the water testing product I have been waiting for! Comparing slight variations of color from a transparent liquid to color patch printed-via-ink on paper is inherently a shaky paradigm. This takes all the guess work out of that by using a program that makes the comparison digitally by engineers who know how one relates to the other. It has been very consistent from test to test. I still occasionally do it the 'long' way using vials of tank water with chemical reagents. It serves as a double check against errors. But that may drop away as confidence is gained in the accuracy and consistency of the Pro JBL test. Obviously its a bit pricier than other options. But well worth it for the simplicity and convenience if your budget allows. One complaint is that after setting up an account with JBL on my smartphone (necessary for keeping a running record of water parameters) it doesn't recognize the account when I try to log back in. I've tried twice to create an account that works without any success. Its a bummer, but I can still take individual readings and transfer them to into my existing log/journal of water parameters. This is the sole reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

I have used this item several times, testing aquarium water to sink water. The first time I did the test I had the same water tested by Petco and the numbers were almost identical. Small +/- variance. There kit is easy to use and to date I haven't had a single problem out of it.

This takes all the guesswork out of analyzing your water quality. The only thing that bears mentioning is that this German-designed analyzer uses the European method of measurement rather than the US ppm method. Online there are easy ways to convert, or you could just get used to the German way of doing things. Aside from this I LOVE THIS ANALYZER. It offers precision by taking all the guesswork out of the interpretation of results. It even allows you to track your progress as you make the necessary adjustments to your tank... Oh, and it tells you how to accomplish the changes! Replacement test strips are inexpensive as well. What else could you ask for?

For what this item is, it works nice. You will experience issues with readings, in which I recommend not using the scanning mode that logs your readings. Why? Because you will want to re-test quickly the strip to get a constant reading. When you use the logging scanner it will not allow you to "back" to the camera as it will make you wait another 60 seconds to re test. Use the other option will allow you to press the back button, and go back into the camera to test the strip again. Also the lack of any way to manually read the strips to assure actually is also a miss in my book.

Don't bother. According to third-party app tracking sources, the JBL PROSCAN app was previously available on the Apple App Store but was unpublished/removed around March 15, 2024 and currently doesn’t appear in the store anymore — even in regional listings. This matches what other indexes are reporting (it shows it used to exist but now is “not available”).

This is a wonderful idea. It's nice to have colorimetric readings of the test strips; I'm not truly sure how accurate this is, given that a few of the squares are blotchy after the 60 second development time, but it's undoubtedly better than my own judgement. The best part is the app that keeps a record of your previous readings so you have a record without having to write it down (I could never bring myself to write down that a nitrate level is "between 20 and 40"). For those with Crystal Red Shrimp tanks, this is a godsend. For anyone who has had a CRS mass death chain-reaction, it's definitely a security blanket!

It's great. I always question my ability to differentiate between slight hues of yellow and orange lol This I have more trust in and test alot of important areas.

I used this to make a comparison with the JBL drop checker and this was far better, I always check the strip in the same place in similar light and tested the kit by doing many tests when I first got it, hardly no variation between tests even doing 4 tests one after another, I also got the water chemically checked at a local aquarist shop and they were pretty much the same so very impressed, I still use a drop checker (not the JBL) as I've now upgraded to pressurised CO2 but use the strips every couple of weeks.
