For years, I've been printing my own business cards, using the LASER PRINTER style blanks from Avery. But I often had feeding problems. (Maybe I need a new laser printer, although this one works great on everything BUT the Avery Laser-type business cards? SO I tried printing my business cards with my Epson DeskJet printer. The sheets fed great and they looked better ... deeper and richer printing ... than the laser ones had done! BUT I was worried they wouldn't be waterproof and durable enough. SO I tried this Krylon, as a finish. Two coats, front and back; a couple of hours apart. (Spray OUTSIDE and USE A PROPER VAPOR MASK, not one of those flimsy white dust masks. OR spray outside with the wind flowing from you ... over the cards ... and away. The opposite of when you're hunting, as you know if you're a hunter. I'm not. Except for "bargains" on desertcart.) Let the cards dry for a couple of days in a well-ventilated place. The smell WILL go away soon enough. The RESULT: an amazing card with deep and rich printing; a slightly-plastic-card feel, very nice; and COMPLETELY WATERPROOF. If you run one under water in the sink, the CARD will curl, but the printing will NOT run. Check all of this out. It's a great way to make wonderful ... impressive ... waterproof ... and durable cards. PLUS with a DeskJet printer, you can add color and images to your heart's content. There, I've done it. The odor lasts a long time so when my work is dry, I still leave it in the garage until there is no lingering odor. For Krylon Satin Finish it's closer to matte, but does have a very very faint gloss to it. I use it to coat my stickers. **Q: does this fixative work on charcoal?** A: Why yes it does! That's what I've been using this fixative for and my charcoal drawings have all remained pristine. **Q: good for watercolor paintings?** A: Hello S. Tankersley, if you are looking to rework an area of the painting, I would not use the workable fixative as it is mainly for smudging types of media like pencil, charcoal, pastel etc. Alhough, you can always experiment. If you are desiring to seal the work, Golden makes an archival varnish in Matte, Satin, and Gloss that is archival and designed to protect delicate works like watercolor. Best, Booker@Howze Art **Q: Will this fully seal alcohol inks on tile?** A: I used this product to seal alcohol ink on tiles for coasters, and it worked really well. The ink smudged before sealing the tiles and were smudge-free after using this product.
