Very nice book it came in good shape

Throughout the book there are misspellings--"die" for "the", "diem" for "them," "unfeathers" for "unfamiliar"' "carthung" for "coming" and so on. Still easily readable, but irritating. Also, a few missing sentences-- the first word followed by a big blank. Maybe more than a sentence is missing! The editors or whoeveer should treat the diary with more respect and care.

Anne Frank - The Diary of a Young Girl - Penguin Classics - 6 Oct 2025 I first learned all about Anne Frank when I went to my new school Neilston Primary School, the 4th Primary School I attended (I moved around Glasgow, Paisley, Barrhead and Neilston a few times in my childhood.) What I recall was being left behind as the rest of my class went on a trip to Amsterdam to visit the Annexe (the attic Anne hid in with others) and go to a waterpark. I really hated not being able to go. Later on I watched a few movies called The Diary of Anne Frank and I always remembered the Jewish teenage girl hiding in the attic from the Nazis in Amsterdam in the back of my mind. But I never got around to reading the diary she wrote for over two years in hiding from the age 13 to the age 15. I didn't know what would be in store for me reading a teenage girl's diary but how the book was written, young and old Jews under hiding from Nazis in Amsterdam during the war, led me to believe it would be a worthwhile read. I wasn't disappointed. This book is a classic for a reason. It's a museum in words with people, time and place immortalised in the mind of the reader with a vivid excellence through use of writing applied by the young Anne. The Diary took me through months on end of entries and I knew in the end these diary entries would come to an end and also so would the young Anne Frank. Anne received the book she would pen her diary in as a gift on her 13th birthday. The book starts with descriptions of what I believe was the 12 year old Anne living in Amsterdam happily in freedom with lots of friends, admirers and a perfect family life. Her family is her father Otto Frank, her mother Edith Frank, her older teenage sister Margot Frank and the youngest being Anne Frank. One day her father (who she later explains she loves more than her mother when in the Annexe a while) tells the family they must go into hiding from the Natzis occupying Europe. Then they go into hiding and are there in this same space for two years as Anne perfectly writes the details of the goings on of their secret hiding place with the fake bookcase on the wall that swung open and shut and hid the entrance. She writes how she is interested in sex and pines for nature saying it's the little nature things that make you happy. Anne loves cats and names her diary Kitty. She doesn't know if she'll live or die but she thinks about the future and says she would travel and have money. They get their news and entertainment from the radio and they have their arguments and dislikings. They spend their days studying, reading and cooking. With a sweet young love affair between Anne and a little older Peter developing. The diary of a young girl shows Anne Frank grow and come of age and independence over two years only be it on one spot. But it also gives a voice to victims and survivors of the Holocaust making people not forget those innocent souls robbed, tortured and slaughtered by cynical, violent and uncaring politics. I would give Anne Frank and her The Diary of a Young Girl 5 stars out of 5 for sheer readability and probably rereadability. It's just a Young Girls Diary but it's an epic read that remains a classic in literature.
