Slow cooking. Perfected.
Absolute winner! I finally broke it out of the box today, and initially was a bit disappointed with the thickness of the cast iron. But I understand the design now. If the cast iron is too thick, you end up with a thermal mass that will resist warming, but also resist cooling. This heats quicker than the common ceramic cookware, but has the benefit of allowing you to halt cooking at any time, and the burning that our last slow cooker was known for (retaining enough heat that even after being turned down or off would still drive the water out of the lower level of the food) is not an issue here, at all. I hate to say it, but I am a clumsy oaf as I enter my 50’s, and having broken the last several slow cooker vessels, cast iron struck me as a more durable material, as it is. As with all bare steel cookware, you obviously don’t want it rusting, but if you care for it, it will last forever, as we still have cast iron my wife’s grandparents brought from Sweden over 100 years ago, and you can’t tell that they are old because we always keep them seasoned and clean. I will be buying the larger version of this, along with a Dutch oven, in the future. I may only have one kid left at home, and she is picky and wants cheeseburgers and fries every day, and REFUSED the casserole I made tonight (ground turkey, dirty rice, black beans, crushed tomatoes, more seasonings, and love), it doesn’t matter. My wife and I both love a hot meal, and in the summer condensing the heat into a slow cooker rather than heating up the entire house with the oven is an absolute win!

For the different things I like to cook and come home from work to in anticipation
I have used this to make many family meals when going over to my daughters house with a big slow cooker of shoyu chicken (an island favorite) to share with her and her little ohana (family) I can set it up, put it on low, and return home after work with that inviting aroma of a meal that's ready to eat. I have made shoyu chicken, pork chop and mushroom casserole, sweet and sour spareribs with pineapple, ham hocks with lima beans, homemade baked beans, and even slow cooked 6 laulau that came out just as good as the traditional way of making and cooking laulau. Our Costco's in Hawaii, sell ready to heat laulau yet if you make your own you can decide what type of protein and vegetable go into your customized laulau. Great device, easy to clean, lightweight, removal dishwasher safe pot, all around great with a high recommendation. Mahalo

Very versatile
It works great. Love the fact that the "crock" can be used ontop of the stove, ours is gas, to brown/saute before you put it in the "pot". Cleans very quick and easy. Thinkin bout gettin another one as we use crockpots alot specially in summer.

Simple, Reliable, and Perfect for Stock & Tallow!
I absolutely love my Chefman 6-Quart Slow Cooker! It’s so refreshingly simple to use—no complicated settings or unnecessary features—and I especially appreciate that I can leave it on without it timing out. This makes it perfect for long, slow projects like simmering stock or rendering tallow. The removable insert is stovetop- and oven-safe, which is a huge bonus, and it cleans up easily thanks to the nonstick surface (dishwasher-safe is a big win!). It’s also very affordable for the quality you get. If you want a dependable, no-fuss slow cooker, this one is a keeper.

Perfect Size for Family Cooking
This the perfect size and shape for making slow cooker meals for a bit of a larger family. Clean up is easy. The only thing to know, is that the handles of the metal insert get really hot, so if you were to move the cooker to another spot during or after cooking, be careful not to touch there. I would definitely buy again, and recommend this to others.
