BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter 220V to 110V Voltage Converter with 0-2.4A 4 Port USB Charging and UK/AU/US/EU Worldwide Plug Adapter (White)

Bought for my deployment to Europe. It works great still have and ready to use if I got on another European deployment. Very ease to use. It is universal and includes adapters for Asians country outlets as well. Very light that you don’t even really notice the weight. It provides efficient power for a laptop, a Christmas tree, a game system, tv, and phone.

We ordered this product in advance of a 2.5 week to New Zealand - a trip where we would be traveling all over both the North and South Islands. The product performed flawlessly. With 3 plug outlets and 4 USB ports, we had plenty of capacity at all times. Of importance when traveling internationally is the size of the product. The box for the product (with cords and converter pieces to deal with the demands of different countries) is only 6 x 3 x1.6 inches. The product is solidly built and the cord that goes in the wall is heavy duty. The ease of use is first rate. I saw another review, giving one star, of a purchaser (D. Rees) who said "It isn't easy to test this before such a trip....who has a foreign outlet here in the US?...not I." That purchaser reported the unit did not work at all. We had no trouble testing the unit before we left (we also traveled to New Zealand) as you do not need a foreign outlet to test it. You plug it into the wall here in the U.S. and turn it on. You then plug in a device to see if the charging function works. The only part of the product you cannot test in the U.S. is the single piece that plugs into the wall in the foreign country and that piece is a pass-through, i.e., it has no moving parts and, even if that part failed when you got to your foreign destination, you could replace it easily. Another one star reviewer complained that the "the cooling fan came on immediately." The fan operates continuously as part of its standard operation and is not a sign that something is wrong. That reviewer then reported something that was, in fact, a problem, i.e., "a loud pop came from the converter and sparks and smoke exited the converter." That reviewer (Mark) was careful to share exactly what was plugged into the converter so it was clear that he had not exceeded the converter's stated capacity. Perhaps the best guideline is to, one, buy the product in plenty of time to allow time to test the product well as we did, including load testing it with the devices you intend to us on the trip. That should reveal any defects with the product in a timely fashion, thereby allowing you time to resolve the problem with BESTEK.

Ordered two. Used one every day for tow yeast and three months out side the US before the fan started making noise. It still works, tried vacuuming out the fan, it clean and works , just noisy. The second is used the same and still is working great. Highly recommended.

I purchased this item with high hopes and received it 2 days before an extended trip to Oman. I packed it in a case i also purchased at the same time. BAGSMART Electronics Travel Organizer Case Bag, Fluorescent Green by BAGSMART. It is well padded and fits well in carry on bag. After 2 days transit I arrived in Oman and much to my disappointment when I tried to use the product I discovered that the 4 USB ports worked well, the 3 power outlets were dead. The little indicator light was yellow from the initial plug in. I reviewed the information provided in the box and it stated that the light should be green. I was dismayed to realize i had transported a large and slightly weighty USB charger. When I attempted to contact Amazon there was only an option to return for refund and actually I simply wanted the unit replaced, preferably sent to Oman. I also notified Bestek of my plight. Bestek replied within minutes and therefore rate 5 stars. They asked for the order number which I provide immeitely. At this point I simply felt I received a defective unit. HOWEVER, upon further investigation realized that while I had purchased the "upgraded" model, [Upgraded] BESTEK International 220V to 110V Converter Travel Adapter with Interchangeable Worldwide UK/US/AU/EU Plugs and 6A 4 USB Ports, AMAZON had sent me the older model, MRJ201GU. This is the second time in less than 6 days Amazon has shipped me the wrong model of an item. In the meantime Bestek informed me that they were very sorry for my inconvenience and they would send a replacement model, unfortunately they cannot ship to Oman, they instructed me to discard the defective model and apologized again. While the unit itself was in fact defective, I should never have received it. Further investigation revealed that Amazon has the titles and descriptions for these two models mixed up. I have notified Amazon that the mistake was theirs and requested they review/correct the listings. I have not heard back from them. I am rating this item at 4 stars totally based on the stellar customer service by Bestek! The 1/2 of the unit which is working, does so flawlessly. Upon receipt of the new unit, if it performs as well as the existing older model I will upgrade to 5 stars! It is small enough to travel well in a carryon, replaces many separate charging units and removes the need for separate power strips. I can only suggest the following improvements for this unit: 1, an external, resettable, surge protection switch or circuit breaker, and including a small carry bag. I suggest if purchasing this product anyone consider also purchasing, BAGSMART Electronics Travel Organizer Case Bag, Fluorescent Green. It is the perfect bag for all my chargers, adalpters, cables and room for more in an case with adjustable dividers and ample padding. Please check the descriptions and model numbers before hitting the purchase button, make sure they are accurate! PS still not heard back from Amazon! I wish I got to rate them!!!!!!!!

--------------- 2018, 2 year update: I've now been using this for about 2 years. In addition to the previous Italy trip, I've used it overseas in China, Iceland, and Grand Cayman as well as numerous times locally. I had a little trouble in China finding an appropriately powered outlet to run a curling iron but did manage it. Otherwise this thing has kept chugging along with no issues. Phones, camera batteries, AA chargers, even hooked up a pico projector & raspberry pi game system and it handled everything! ----------------- Original review: I purchased this bad boy specifically for my trip to Italy in late September. Between my traveling partner and me, we had quite a few different devices that needed power at some point and this worked flawlessly I used the standard power input twice and stuck mainly to the 2amp USB ports while my traveling partner used a curling iron plus what I had. At no time did it disappoint. I also used this in the airport when people were hogging the power switches (plug this and the US adapter in and a few of you can charge at the same time) and the other person (plus a couple of others) were grateful for the extra spots. Yes, there is a fan onboard and it does make noise (less that a standard oscillating fan) but it's a small price to pay for consistent, reliable, and a variety of power options. I tried some Teflon wax lubricant and that helped for a day or two but wore off. Still, no big deal. I've tried a few different power adapters and they usually switch off/on as they run into spotty electricity but this kept up. Coincidentally a couple we met up with had the same thing (different brand but clearly the same unit) and loved theirs.

Seriously, you don't need this for smart phones, camera or computers. Here is why. Look at the pictures. If you got a smart phone bought within the last 10 years, the electronics are made for all international voltage. Why? because they are all made in China in one big factory and sold to the entire world. We don't make things in the US anymore. Unless you have an obscure piece of electronic more than 10 years old, this is useless. You can always check the small writings on the electronic.Look for 110V-240V. That means it operates on both 110 volt in US and 220 or 240 volts international. Here is the exception: Appliance like hairdryer or toaster do need the right voltage. The cheaper ones of these appliance are not computer controlled, so they need the right voltage. Nicer ones of these will be dual voltage. But here is the problem, this low wattage converter will never run a hairdryer. This is only 200 watts max. Hairdryer is 600 watts and above. So don't even think about using this for a toaster or hairdryer. In conclusion, this thing is not needed for any modern electronics. Things that do need it, this is too small to handle. I ask you, what good is this thing? Is a waste of luggage space. Is sad, but this is a "feel good" device to make you think you are doing something when is a waste of time, money and space. One of our family member bought this by accident. We didn't even bother to take it on our trip. We just bought along the square adapters to change the shape of the outlet plug. The fan is always on, and very noisy. This is cheap. Nicer electronics will turn off the fan unless is needed. For charging smart phones at 2A, you don't need that fan. I ended up sticking a popsicle stick into the fan to stop it from turning. Now is quiet, and we just use the 4 USB ports to charge phones at home.

It worked as we expected and gave us no problems. Having three receptacles available was very handy.

Great adaptor. I really like how it is both a voltage converter for international currents but also a powerstrip so we only needed 1 to charge mulitple devices every night. Packs well in its own pouch keeping all parts together and has usb ports so I could reduce the number of plug blocks I brought so there was less chance of losing an important piece.
