In looking at it further, I noticed that you do have to unlace the clear and then feed the laces through the support to install it. I thought about returning it, but it occurred to me that it could still be useful transitioning back to full practice after an injury occured. So it was inexpensive and well made from a top tier vendor- it made sense to keep it.
