## Description

The band's third album, iii, wasn't crafted in one fell swoop. Instead, the musicians collaborated across space and time, meeting in Stockholm, Los Angeles and New York for short periods over almost two years. They brought in a variety of other musicians and producers into the studios with them, feeling more open to outside collaboration this time around. Each musician began with different songs, sometimes sending them back and forth digitally when they couldn't be together in one room. As a whole, the album feels resolutely like a Miike Snow project, defined both by the two efforts that have come before and by the collective work of the three musicians. The combination of the musicians is an electric one, as exemplified on the album and in their live shows.

    Good but not as special as their other albums

    I may be too harsh in giving this album only 3 stars ---- I'd go for 3.5 if given the option --- because I really did like this CD overall, but compared to their last two albums, this one was not nearly as good, not as memorable, not as buoyant, not as joyous, just not quite as special.Okay, perhaps the other two albums were just so amazing that this one suffers by comparison. To my ears the songs on here just doesn't feel as well crafted or as well honed or as developed as the one of the other Miike Snow albums. But still, there are some very good moments on this album and I think that most fans will enjoy this new album nonetheless. It's not like they totally changed their style and giving you something unexpected. And frankly, I don't think most fans of Miike Snow really want something new and different. More of the same please, but better material would help.I do give them bonus points for writing a song that makes you want to sing "Genghis Khan" over and over again! Now that's more like it!

    I love this album. This is my first Mike Snow Album I got hooked with Genghis Khan and then locked in by Back of the Car, but the entire album is great. It is a new sound that mixes soul/rock/rap with electronica and it is just amazing completely new and totally worth the purchase. I am sold and look forward to more.

    I have been a fan of Miike Snow for a while now, and am happy to see them continue evolving.  Ghengis Kahn is a great song (and video), but the album as a whole shows a variety of songs that transcend age and genre.  If you are looking for more of the same from their first 2 albums, then you will probably be disappointed.  iii stands on its own.  It is a bit more pop then the previous two, but a good listen from beginning to end.  iii, like Miike Snow as a group is just good music; free of preconceptions and the pressure of trying to be anything...It just is.
