Arrived in two pieces, very well packed. After unpacking, it took about one half hour to attach the top section to the bottom section. I did it all alone by lifting the top into place by successively placing boxes under each end until it was raised to the height of the bottom section and then sliding it on to four dowel rods. Eleven wood screws hold it in place.It is solid oak with a dark finish. A real value compared to other roll tops we checked out. It shipped from southern California to our home in just two days. The driver helped carry the boxes into the house. It weighs over 300 pounds.My wife loves it.
