It has a low whirring sound when running but it's very faint so perfect for sleeping. It will last all night too. **Q: If you are happy with this diffuser, how big is the room you use it in? What kind of maintenance soes it require?** A: We use ours in a 14x20 room. Clean with a dry paper towel before refilling each use. **Q: Does this diffuser have a light that stays illuminated while the machine is on?** A: There are two very small indicator lights. One is for continual output, the other for interval output.
