Snails got accidentally introduced to the tank when I added plants. To get rid of the snails, I used Cupramine. I got rid of the snails but now the sand in the tank and the expanded clay media in the Duo Filter are contaminated with copper. This is no problem as long as you don't want to keep shrimp and clams. A year later, I decided to try keeping freshwater clams. First step, remove the copper. I put one small bag of cuprisorb in the filter and let it run for three weeks. The water is testing zero amounts of copper after three weeks. I did not think copper can be removed from this system due to the expanded clay media in the Duo Filter. But it worked. This product is effective.
