Lamy Safari Fountain Pen Medium Nib | Umbra Body with Metal Clip | Matt ASA Plastic Body & Chromium-Plated Steel Nib | With Blue T-10 Cartridge & Z-28 Converter

I’m a Parker frontier regular, started using this one recently. Ink flow- Lamy has a better ink flow and writes broader compared to Parker Frontier. Weight - extremely light weight. Comfortable for long writing. I enjoyed writing using Lamy Safari , though this is totally a personal choice. Takes some getting used to. My Parker frontier was a heftier pen and I was used to its weight. I’d not recommend using fancy inks with this pen. Use Parker Quink black. It’s a very well behaved ink and works well with all sorts of paper qualities. Do clean your pen regularly. It’s easy and can be done passively. Just unscrew and dismantle everything (that comes off easily without much yanking) and immerse it in a bowl of water overnight. Reassemble in the morning and you’re good to go. I recommend doing this once a month.

I have both Lamy Safari & Pilot Metropolitan, if you want smoothness pilot is miles ahed. LAMY is little bit "scratchy", I had to grind it to make it little bit smoother, but still not as smooth as pilot. Grip section is nice with tripod grip. The quality of plastic is nice. The umbra color is not black- which is good thing. It has brownish hue. Value for money? I don't know. One tip: the cartridge ink provided is very dry, discard it & fill up the z28 converter provided in the box with wet ink for better flow. I use Pelikan 4001 Blue-black (not so wet ink, but I love the colour).

The ink flows smoothly onto the paper without straining your hands, great beginner fountain pen, replaceable nibs and just an overall good pen for a cheap price compared to other name brands. Although if you do not like plastic, I would recommend the Al-Star for a few hundred more. Very smooth ink.

When I saw the package and opened it, I was left wondering what the hype about this pen really was. The packaging was bare bones and functional and nothing fancy. If you just went by the looks, this one isn't fancy in that department either. You wouldn't be able to distinguish it from a 30 rupee ball point pen. Once I assembled it and got the writing going, that's when it hit me. Man, these guys know how to make pens! The writing just flowed! I have been using the pen for a week now and I find myself going back to this pen even when I have one or two words to write! The grip took a little while to get used to. But once you get used to this one, this is likely to have you hooked for life!

It's a pen you will love to write. Better than the expensives one in the market. I am loving in terms of smoothness and writing quality us a great experience. Design is ok and can be done better instead of plastic used. Over all the pen is great

Having spent years using Parker, I finally decided to switch to a premium brand. After much research zeroed in on this German brand. It's SMOOTH, STURDY AND STYLISH. It radiates SAVANT. I was worried about authenticity but the packaging and content seems to be consistent and I have no reason to suspect that it is DUPLICATE. NOTE: Not recommended for beginners (too expensive). Nib size is usually a matter of personal choice. However, be mindful that MEDIUM is not suitable for poor quality paper. FINE is recommended for general purpose.
