Review: Best fan I've ever bought - I've gone through a lot of oscillating fans. The problem is that the oscillation mechanism invariably wears down, and it starts making clicking noises. Some people might not mind this - it puts me in a homicidal rage. The Vornado 660 does not oscillate. I was skeptical of this when I bought it, but took a chance, and I'm glad I did. The product does exactly what it says in the advertisements. It blows a powerful narrow stream of air, which you direct upwards in the direction of the opposite wall. The stream spreads out, and circulates throughout the room, cooling it within a minute - and you never have it blowing in your face (if you point it properly). I typically operate it in "low" and "medium" speeds. Low is almost silent. Medium is audible - but only if the room is otherwise silent. There's also high and turbo, which I've only toyed with. Very effective, but a bit much. But this is without a doubt the best fan I've ever purchased.

I plugged it in, fired up the Alexa app to rename it, and it just worked, no muss no fuss no bother. It has just worked every single time I've used Alexa. If you're old-fashioned and prefer getting your exercise by walking over to the fan you're in luck too-- the buttons on top are much nicer than the traditional knob. This fan moves a lot of air for something so small, and it does it as quietly as any fan can... it feels like all of the noise comes from air movement and none from the motor, which is kind of the holy grail of fan noise. The glide bar makes it easy to tilt the head to the right angle, and also serves as a handle when you need to move it. I can't speak to its longevity but every other Vornado fan I've owned has been a workhorse. I kind of feel like a shill writing an all-positive review, but I really am that happy with the product.

**Q: does this fan oscillate?**
A: No, not at all. But it's not really intended to do so. Think of this less like a "fan" that blows air straight on you. It certainly does that, but it's column of air is so narrow and direct that it's not really ideal for that. Rather, think of this as a circulator. Point it at the wall above your bed and there will be no fight over who is getting the better end of the fan because it will legitimately spray the air from where the fab is located to wherever it is pointed. Point it from the floor to near the corner of the ceiling and wall above your bed and everything and everyone along that wall will get bathed in air, lam to he while everything in the room is mixed as if I a perfect air burrito. No chinks of warm air. Just everything perfect.

**Q: Does it have an oil port on the motor?**
A: Had this fan for 5 years, and it is one of the best fans you can buy. Problems are it doesn't oscillate, and the fan gets full of dust. Recently the fan started making a noise and the fan blade was not moving. Took the fan apart including the motor and motor housing. Cleaned all of the dust out and sprayed some of the plastic parts in the shower with hot water. The motor rotor was still not spinning, so lubricated both ends of the rotor rod with wd40, and it is back to new again. Have the Vornado heater, and that's a nice product. Looking for another large Vornado fan with a stand and oscillation, remote.

**Q: Does anyone use this fan to force cool air from downstairs, up into the warmer second level of home, by placing it near the foot of a staircase?**
A: I have this fan on the floor of a room that sits below a balcony hallway. I have the fan pointed to move the cool air up into the higher spaces. It seems to move a large amount of air pretty quickly and relatively quietly compared to other fans twice its diameter. It quickly mixes the cooler air from below with the warmer  air up in the high spaces to even out the temperature. I have an ecobee system with multiple temperature monitors. When I turn on the fan the temperature in the upstairs drops by two or three degrees in about 10-15 minutes.

**Q: Is this fan 240v compatible? I'm contemplating ordering this for use in Australia**
A: Hello Jonathan, 660 model (and all Vornado models) motor has been re-worked for Australian Consumers. Do NOT buy the 120V model if you are using it in Australia. The 120V model only works for a couple of hours in Australia before the motor blows. This model is available in Australia. Please go to www.vornado.com.au and search the where to buy section. It may be a bit more expensive however, it worth spending a bit more than flushing $74.99 down the drain. Hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing power, VERY low noise, voice control

I ended up buying 4 of these to keep one of the upstairs rooms in my house as cool as possible. I have heavy computing projects going on in one room and it heats up into the upper 80s, lower 90s super fast. I was so impressed by the volume of air pushed, while at the same time being so quiet, I ended up buying one for sleeping and another for another room in the house. All four worked out of the box IMMEDIATELY and were auto-linked to Alexa for voice control upon powering them up (since I checked the box to associate them with my Amazon account when purchasing.) THESE FANS ABSOULTELY ROCK - Compared to 20" metal-frame convention floor fans, these are easily 1/4 of the volume, while pushing just as much air, in a more directed fashion that's great for circulation. The company says they want everything to work 110% out of the box, and they nailed it.
