No wimpy beauty-grade gadget for this gal!!
This bad boy is INDUSTRIAL GRADE! I am using it for red light therapy---I had hoped to use it like a "wand" in my hand. It's big, and it's heavy--plus, it has these big ridge fins all the way around it, which makes it unfriendly to hand and face alike. That being said, it's still a terrific buy as a therapeutic instrument. I ended up cutting off a tube sock to cover those fins--but still, it needs to sit in something as a stand. So, here is my "light therapy station" at my desk! I have used it three times now---my eyes feel wider and I feel more awake. Maybe the placebo effect? I have a little (gak: wart) on my little finger that refuses to yield to any and all efforts to get it to go. I "treated" it last night with my bulb---today, it is dry and painless--and hopefully taking the hint. I am open to all kinds of treatments and therapies--I learned about red light therapy after a wrinkle-less friend told me about a $1000 red-light-wand she bought at a trade show. Being WAY TOO CHEAP for that, I did my own research and of course, I found what I needed on Amazon. Here quickly---DELIGHTED! AN ADDENDUM: I am using this bulb regularly on my face (wrinkles and spots) and hands (pain relief). The wrinkles??? Still there. I don't know that they're less visible or affected at all by my low-rent red-light therapy. However, there has been a "chocolate milk" like stain on my upper lip for ages. An "age spot" that refused to yield to any and all lightening creams, it is now a thing of the past! I know it's not my imagination, since it has drawn my eye FOR YEARS. I don't think I gave it any more attention than the rest of my face (during my red-light treatments), but it is GONE. That is worth the price of admission right there! I give my face 10-20 minutes once a day.

Light hacking (circadian rhythm), topical use, flowering of plants (cattails on pussy willows)
Bright yet not glaringly so. I can sleep with it on. Bulletproof radio “Dos n don'ts of Light Hacking” led me here. He says not to use LEDs unless they're a specific wavelength. Red light will not disrupt hormones that regulate your circadian rhythm AKA sleep. White light disturbs mitochondria, as your pineal gland registers blue light as daylight, messes with melatonin. This light works for skin also e.g. scars. Plants: a) probably wouldn't keep it on for too long b/c I think it dries them out. Not an expert, but overnight, dried up the one violet my African violet had going on. I fell asleep with the light on full power, which you're probably not supposed to do. Related to that B) I fell asleep with the light on and got deeper sleep. So Dave Asprey (bulletproof) might be on point with that. (I used to fall asleep with my full spectrum light on and wake up during the night) For night owls who write or work at night, red lights are a way to keep working without affecting circadian rhythm like blue light. (Circadian rhythm disruption lasts, and has surprising ripple effects) However, for emergency all nighters, red light will allow your circadian rhythm to kick in and make you sleepy around normal sleep time--so for one-time deals I found blue light is necessary to stay awake. C) not sure if the light caused this, but these floundering pussy willow cuttings began growing cattails over a day or two after months of fur bits in seeming arrested development under a higher wattage full spectrum light. (Not sure if it's the red light or me moving the high spectrum light. It seemed to happen overnight when the red light was on, and radical growth, and more than the other one I have under actual sunlight)

Amazing product / great result/ great price
I use this on my face and I feel my wrinkles are fading away. The light bulb is big and cover half of my face. It also has helped with my rosacea. You can pay hundreds of dollars for LED lights for skin care but I have to say this will give you the same result. You will only need about 7 mins on your forehead and 7 minutes on each sides of your face . Just make sure to protect your eyes. It’s well made. It will help boost collagen and elation production and reduces inflammation . You can use this every where on your skin and hair. You will get more blood flow in that area , therefore more nutrients and oxygen and faster waste elimination. I also used this on my c section scar and I feel is helping with my keloid scar. This product is well made and I will guaranty if you get it you will never return it.

POWERFUL
Well, I've used the bulb for 2 sessions now, and it puts out a huge amount of VERY intense red light, so intense, in fact, I simply can't tolerate it shining straight into my face - even when wearing goggles: they block almost nothing. So something will have to be done about that. Otherwise, however, I'm pleased with the feel of the light on the areas I'm focusing on: soothingly warm, never too hot; the bulb & socket doesn't get too hot to hold bare-handed, either. The main reason I got it is to hopefully lose weight, especially in particularly difficult areas, and it's far too soon to notice anything or comment on its effectiveness on that score.

Long time review, total early failure have not/will not buy again
02 November, 2022 This light totally failed last summer. So not only the base, which is thin plastic has durability issues as stated already, the LED or the associated electronics failed as well. Originally, after the total failure of the base, I used Epoxy glue and Carbon tape to glue it back together. However, since I didn't have much confidence in this light being out of sight in the greenhouse, I decided to replace it with a suitable grow light, and repurpose this one for skin therapy experimentation. I think this light might have had some value for therapy. However, for the most part it was used no more than once every couple of months or so; each session lasting less than an hour. The last time I used it, the light came on, quickly got dimmed to barely visible, and just as quickly died. I am down grading this product to 1 stars. ABI 12W Deep Red 660nm LED Bloom Booster. My Wife's orchids responded very well to this light. I think a stronger light of the same spectrum would have been more useful. This item was shipped in a timely manner with no problems. I like the billet aluminum cooling fins. They really perform their job. The light never got hotter than 92f. This compares favorably to cfl light it replaced, which ran at +140f. There are 3 screws holding the head to the base assembly of this light. After about a week of use I noticed a small crack at the base of one of the attachment screws. It appears that one or all of the screws might have been over-tightened during assembly. Eventually the white ABS plastic part that connects the head to the base finally completely self-distructed. Upon examination of the parts, it seems clear that the white plastic part is too thin for the purpose. This might not have been a problem if the one or all the screws were properly tightened during assembly. I ended up ordering a replacement light from another supplier here. That one was less expensive, and is durable so far. However, it is too pink so it is not really suitable as a plant light. So now I really need to order another stronger light of similar build and spectrum. However, the potential for the thing to fall apart (especially given the additional heat of a stronger light) makes this not a good choice. So the search continues. I really should be giving this light 1 star for failing after a short time making it useless. However, amazon shipped it fast without any issues and the light was ok before it fell apart. So, 3 stars for now.

Not what i expected
Proper spectrum, but is more of a pinpoint light than a flood light.

Great value for skin rejuvenation light therapy!
Great quality product that produces intense near infrared light that is great for a cheaper alternative to other led light therapy devices that are very expensive. To receive the best benefits use 1" from facial skin 10 mins per area ie;cheeks forehead, mid face /nose area, one treatment every 24 hours.I personally use 5days on two days off, also apply serums ie;hyaluronic acid, collagen, peptide serums before use,the slight heat dramatically improves product absorption and helps with visually plumping up tired skin. When I am strict with facial treatments I notice a notable reduction in redness and get complements that my skin is glowing. This product proves that you do not have to spend a fortune to reap the benefits of NASA based anti aging technology break through research!❤

12W version excellent for topical therapeutic uses
I bought the 12W version for therapeutic applications: athlete's feet, skin healing and regeneration after a deep 2nd degree burn, and multiple cuts requiring stitches. According to my solar meter, the 12W bulb puts out 70 to 80 mw/cm2 at FOUR INCHES AWAY from target tissue. This distance is key because that's also the distance required for light from individual LEDs to disperse and create a uniform pattern of light. Plus, the output is fairly constant at this distance, allowing me to compute therapies based on at least four Joules of light energy per minute [in reality it's between four and five]. The light knocked out a life-long [fifty years] case of athlete's foot in two or three applications @ a half-hour per area of foot applied. The burn healed completely in 3 weeks [four minutes per treatment every other day as described above] with only very minimal scarring where the burn may have been 3rd degree. If one needs deeper penetration for other therapeutic uses, the brighter fluency produced by the 27W or 36W versions may be beneficial. However, regarding all versions, I strongly advise not applying the LEDs too closely to your skin for extended periods as even the direct power of the 1W LEDs in the 12W bulb can be intense. Also, please note that applying red light or IR light in combination with essential oils, lotions, chemicals, salves, or drugs can have a synergistic effect that magnifies the effects of both. I especially caution against prolonged light exposure over skin simultaneously treated with 'hot' essential oils such as Oregano, Cassia, Cinnamon, Lemongrass, Citral, etc. Finally, another reviewer suggested cutting a tube sock and pulling the elastic cuff over the metal fins [and taping the 'tube' of the sock near the base of the bulb] to soften the fins against the skin. I did and it works perfectly! Thank you whoever suggested it! ;<))
