If you're thinking of buying this for nice pictures of page after page of photo with a description of where it is in what mosque in what part of the world your going to be sadly mistaken. Yes it has a few pictures of ceilings, from the point of view of standing on the floor and taking the picture looking up. Its got pictures of architecture from the point of view that you can get from a postcard. There's a lot of yawning text that's repetitive after the first two chapters.

Wie schwer es ist ist, die 1000 järige Geschichte der Islamischen Kunst zusammen zu fassen, ohne sich in zu vielen Detailfragen zu verlieren zeigt das Team von Moya Carey. Carey war Studentin an der Londoner School for Oriental and African Studies, der Eliteschule für Islamische Kunstgeschichte. Es gibt im Buch zunächst einige einleitende Abschnitte, bestimmte wichige Detailfragen werden dann auf jeweils zwei Seiten beantwortet und mit Abbildungen illustriert. Es wird Architektur und Malerei bearbeitet, aber auch die Angewandte Kunst in ihren vielen Fassetten, was nicht oft und in so gekonnter Weise vorgestellt wird. Herzlich Glückwunsch an die Autorin. Ich bin froh, dass ich das Buch kaufte.

An excellent book covers all key art and architecture in the Islamic history. It is not only useful for the specialists in the area, but it is also useful for each person that has a special interest in Islam.
