How to Love the World: Poems of Gratitude and Hope

I heart this book so much! I run a community on Facebook called "Attitude of Gratitude with Chronic Pain" for people who struggle with chronic conditions. We use GRATITUDE to help bridge the gap between suffering and hope. I am always looking for new ways to help boost our GRATITUDE practice, and when I came across this book, just the title clearly piqued my interest! Boy, was I NOT disappointed! This is a warm and comfortable collection of poems and musings from some wonderful poets! I have been posting many of these poems in the group for my members to reflect on and discuss. Each poem leaves me examining things in my life more closely through the lens of GRATITUDE, and the selections are beautifully curated and organized into this love letter to life. If you are looking to boost your GRATITUDE practice and read a gorgeous collection of poetry, you will LOVE this book! James Crews has done a remarkable job compiling these poems into a book of poetry that is now one of my go-to's for my group inspirations.

This is the first book of poetry where I've read every poem. I highlighted so many of them for so many delightful turns of phrase and reminders of joy in the small moments/details of like. I will come back to this.

Charming little book with a thoughtful selection of poems, but one annoying drawback that irks me every time I pick up the book: the pages are uneven, so that some pages stick out and some are recessed, making it awkward to flip through (as I normally do with my poetry books). I suppose it is meant to be a clever design feature, as they certainly don't hide it in the photos on the sale page, but wow, it is so much more irritating than I imagined! So much so that I decided against buying the companion book. Dear publishers, please consider making a book with normal cut pages for those of us who enjoy flipping through a book! This one is unflippable!

This poetry from James Crews is so beautiful and will speak to your life and heart! He assembles many wonderful artists. A great find!

I’m always looking for good poetry anthologies to introduce me to new poets and to give as gifts. This one is a keeper. Just an utterly joy-producing collection. Buying it for my classroom as well!
