It holds it's cold real well for about 45 minutes for me, then feels only cool. It's typically in the 90's here when I use it. Too humid here for evaporative cooling so this is great. It "sweats" after a while when the ice really begins to melt, but then so do I and the cool drips are not so bad. I use it for yard work and dog walking mainly- I also have been putting on the big fluffy dog lately. He really seems to be tolerating the summer poorly this year (getting older) and tends to poop out long before the others. I have let him use this when we walk lately and he seems happier and walks and participates more even though he has a fluffy neck. It barely fits him(newfie/aussie mix) due to his sixe and the fluff. It's really just a flimbsy outer strip like a lightweight headband with velcro at the end to wrap around a plastic strip, with 3 bubbles of something that freezes up to keep cool.I ordered it in bright green, and I was sent light blue.The ad said that it stays cool for about one and a half hours. It does not. It only stays cool for about a half hour. I bought this for my brother who has a very heavy job outdoors and has to work in the 80-90 degree weather. He keeps switching the plastic insert constantly.
