Review: Finest filtration unit of them all. - I have so much to say about this external filter. It's super easy to setup, i like how the lid gets sucked into position once sealed. I like how it's easily accessible to take parts out to fix. I like how it comes with all the filters that needs no replacement unless you want too. I like how easily cleanable the filters, filter pods, filtration unit, lid tubes water drainage, water sprayer is. I like that i can store this unit anywhere as i dont like units taking up space within my turts tank. The appearance is minimal though does look like a science experiment happening i sort of like it. Noise level of the unit is barely there. You'll feel it vibrate if your hand is on it but you wont hear anything unless you're clean water is sprouting out in your pond or tank. You can easily adjust the sound of your clean water flow. Quality of the unit is fare, though i do wish the motor part wasn't so easily rotatable. Personally, I replaced the speheres with cermic rings. There is also a lot of dpace to add other media like carbon. It has no UV. **Q: Hi, I purchased one of these and it has 4 square holes under the rim of where the lid attaches and water is coming out of those holes, how to stop?** A: Read a few of the answers here , one says maybe you over filled it which isn't a viable answer due to the fact the unit needs to be totally filled with water with no air in it to work at full capacity. There are 4 square cut out in the top section these are to accommodate the clips which keeps the lid on tight. When fitted correctly these clips work on a cam action and make a kind of clicking noise when they are correctly fitted and closed . If you don't fit them correctly the unit will leak from them . You may also want to check the O ring that sits between the lid and the pot is correctly seated on the lid , it's usually a good idea to give it a thin coat of silicon grease or vasiline this will help it stay in the correct position when refitting the lid if the filter . I would take pictures of mine showing this but it is actually running at the moment and I have had no issues with it leaking at all . Hope this was of some help. Another tip I can give you with these filters is many say they don't have much water flow and it won't lift the water very far . This usually due the air in the system and needs a good prime. To so this you need a bucket. Once you have your filter set up with the pipes in the tank run it for a few minutes then shut it off close the valve on the lid . Now you need to take the outlet hose and place it in the bucket, open the valve and let it start to syphon the water through the filter once you see that you have a nice flow if water ,( usually only takes a few seconds), you can now turn the power back on so the pump runs you should see an nice increase in the output of water into your bucket. Now all you need to do is close the val e on the lid again , refit the outlet pipes to the tank and open the valve and you should have good water flow now. I usually put filter start or the bio bacteria ball in the top of the filter after cleaning . Only need to clean mine every couple months . **Q: How long are the hoses? Wanted a smaller one for another tank so got this one. Within a day of instalation the pump felt hot so I messaged the seller who were great and sent another pump under warranty. I havent managed to fit this yet as its a mission to get the other one off. Maintenance on this filter is a challenge I seem to soak everywhere trying to get the pipes off. Noise level is not too loud but there is a humming noise. The flow is not too bad for the size. The reason for the low rating is ease of maintenance, its not easy at all. Will be changing to another one shortly. Cant fault the customer service/support though. Updated review 17/11/21 I have since changed my mind on this filter after running it for a couple of months. The noise level still not bad and for cleaning I have worked out the outlet pipe needs to be out of the water before starting. Priming is not difficult either. The flow rate is lower as I have a pre filter sponge on the intake. When off its much better.
