With the 878 max you can open the garage door with a 4 digit pin number that you chose to progaram. The 878 max replaces previous models for 390mhz and 315 mhz. Review: Originally had installation issues with Genie (universal opener @ 1/2 the price) and my LiftMaster garage door. Installation of the 878Max was simple. Worked immediately on both doors. No operating issues after several months of use. Best features: One-click button to close garage door and cover to protect keypad. Review: Bought this as a replacement for an 15 year or so old Liftmaster key pad. Was a little worried that the footprint on the side of my garage door would be different and not cover the area of the original unit, which look different due to the covered area looking different than the rest which has been exposed to the elements. Fortunately, the footprint was exactly the same. The top screw was in the exact same spot and covered perfectly. Bottom screw was a bit lower so I had to drill a new hole, but that’s fine. Setup was straight forward using the instruction. Different Lift Master openers have different colored buttons on the back. I think red, blue, and yellow. Anyway the instructions with your controller should tell you how to program the remote for different colored buttons. **Q: Is this compatible with linear lso50?** A: No, the Liftmaster 878max Garage Door keypad does not work with Linear products. **Q: Does it work with 318 MHz frequency?** A: The LiftMaster 878MAX Security+ does not work with 318MHz. **Q: Can I program multiple 4 digit pins for multiple users?** A: I do not know.
