Before I made the decision to purchase, I had all the questions you have. The game is very respectful of the subject matter. Each card has flavor text at the bottom explaining significance of the event it depicts. I have only played solo, but it would be easy to lose an hour between each turn discussing what I just learned.Play is straightforward. After three games I only rarely needed to consult the rules. The game has hard and easy settings, but I think it will be a while before I’m ready to attempt “hard”.If you have the extra money, the teacher edition would probably be a good investment, especially if you plan to play with people unfamiliar with the era.The quality of the components is first rate. The rules are clearly laid out. Each player has a sequence of play in front of them to help the game flow smoothly.Seriously, my only regret is waiting so long to make my decision to buy. If you already know about the era, or want to learn about it, or just want a fun challenging historical game, this really belongs on your game shelf.

If you want to educate people on the horrors of American slavery and the treatment of Africans read a book on the subject. How dare this company profit off the pain of our ancestors! Is there a game about the holocaust? Or any other group? No you have to read a book on the subject. This game is not informative, educational or fun! There’s nothing fun about slavery! This is disturbing, disrespectful and Amazon should not sale this product!

This game should not be sold period! Its disgusting to even have such a game like this out. Amazon do better and remove it!
