Simply the best wood finishing product. I love the look, its contrast and depth of colour etc. Its food safe and have no issues using it for cutting boards and my herringbone flooring. With that said - its not truly a mono-coat - if you want the *perfect* finish then I would recommended knocking down the first coat with some maroon pads and then applying a light second post.

Walnut is one of my favorite wood species, and for years I’ve used Rubio Pure because I didn’t think natural Walnut could be made any more beautiful than it already is. I was so very wrong. What it is: I had always thought that this was one of Rubio’s “stain” finishes in a walnut color, but this one actually just enhances the natural look of walnut. It does darken it a bit but I prefer it that way. It evens out the sapwood and just leaves an absolutely beautiful finish. What it is NOT: This specific product is NOT a stain. Meaning, it’s not like applying Minwax’s “Dark Walnut” to pine. I’d you apply this to pine, it will leave it slightly darker and yellow. In my opinion, and I’m not sure but Rubio may also say this, this “Walnut” finish just means that it is made to finish and deepen walnut and other darker wood species. Reason for 4 stars and not 5 - I use a syringe and always mix 3:1 as the instructions state, yet I ran out of hardener with more than 1/3 of the oil left. What’s the deal!? This stuff is far too expensive to not get the amount that I paid for.

First time user after watching it being used on YouTube for years. It will not disappoint, easy to apply and maintain. Used it on a walnut coffee table top, so far so good. Will be buying more to use on other projects. A little expensive but well worth cost.

I've tried a variety of different products on Walnut. Nothing beats the look of Rubio Monocoat. If you like the amber tones in walnut, use the 'pure' monocoat. If you prefer to subdue the amber tones just a bit, use this 'walnut' color. I've had the best results when sanding to 150. Anything finer doesn't allow the oil to penetrate. Anything coarser comes out a touch blotchy. Note: although this cures to a matte finish, it can easily be shined up affordably with products like Howards Feed 'N' Wax. For a super durable finish, put a poly on top. But make sure the monocoat has cured for at least a week.
