I wanted to replace the crappy stuff sack for a cheap sleeping bag. I have used compression sacks for all my sleeping bags since the 1970's. The high end sleeping bags sometimes come with one. While these ain't grandpa's heavy duty canvas compression sacks, it was perfect for my needs.

The bags that normally come with coleman and/or ozark trail (walmart) sleeping bags are not the best. Some of them require you to remove a strip to expand the original bag since you'll never get it back in if you don't. This is where these compression sacks come into play. These bags/sacks allows you to gain a little (or a lot) of space by further compressing your sleeping back. I've been using these exact compression bags/sacks for a few years now and they work great.

My new sleeping bag came in its own stuff sack but as you all know the OEM sacks are junk. So I scoured Amazon and found this one. I measured my bag in its original OEM sack, and went by the measurements in the description that suggested a Small size in its compressed state. Well, so I ordered a Small...the bag wouldn't fit, or come even close to fitting. The description said a "no return replacement" but then upon clicking "Return", Amazon says yes I do have to return it, this time I don't have to box and lable it. (Why not this time???) Anyway, today I received it (fast shipping, ordered this time yesterday) and it still barely fits in the bag. But it will do. Seems they could talk about sizing a bit more in the description to rectify having to reorder. I'm pretty sure the new one I got today was someone else's Return, as it came not so neatly folded, or packaged like the first one did. The Description says, free 1 year warranty and lifetime customer service...HOW DO YOU GET AHOLD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE? THERE IS NO LINK TO CUSTOMER SERVICES.

I bought a small size of these in the hopes that it would work to compress a standard size poncho liner to buy more space in a camping backpack. As regards the woobie, this compression sack fits it "okay"--it is a little on the large side, especially the diameter of the compression sack. This tends to mean a rolled-up poncho liner tends to crumple to the sides inside the bag rather than compress along the axis of the cylinder, such that it occupies no less space in the backpack. In fact I think it might actually be more compact simply rolled up (though the tie cords are a mess then). I have some concerns about durability. Compressing something tends to put significant, visible strain on the stitching; I anticipate the stitching could easily tear under long-term use. Moreover, the slides and buckles tend to slip on the webbing, which can cause some jam-ups and/or sudden releases of tension while compressing the bag.

This compression sack works well. I have a full sized muslin cotton blanket in the size small. The straps came sewn together which was confusing at first wino directions , but I figured out that I needed to cut them apart after looking at photos. Overall this seems to work well.
