I need that amount for my cold brew maker** A: There are variables. A more fine grind for espresso takes more cranks of the the handle, but a coarse grind for my French press moves a little faster. So. for 7g of beans- a single espresso shot - it takes me about 50 seconds. Double shot - about 90 seconds. 30g of beans, just over an ounce takes me about 220 seconds (3:40). All are reasonable and there is always another coffee related thing I am waiting on as I grind. I enjoy the process. If I am trying to fill a 12 Cup drip pot, though, I think I would look elsewhere. I would say this device is for small batches, where you are actively inspecting and concerned about specific details of the grind. **Q: Does this grinder make consistent-sized grounds? My current electric-blade grinder makes powder mixed with big chunks.** A: Perfect sized and uniform with setting you select. The advantage of manual crank that doesn't rush the process. Also no overheating the grounds. **Q: Will this grinder fit a mason jar?** A: No! Not on any sized mason jar. Has a very specific sized thread and won't screw on anything I've tried yet. And the little jars it comes with I haven't found any other lid to fit on these either. Wish it came with two lids, one for each jar. **Q: Can it do enough for a full 12 cup pot of coffee at one time?** A: It will take an inordinate amount of time, figuring on grinding a rounded tablespoon for every cup. Seriously, even alternating between left and right arms, you still may need Advil after an hour of manual grinding. My advice is use this for three to four cups, but buy a $10 - 20 blade grinder for 12 cups, if cost is an issue. Even then you will have to do about six cups worth of beans twice because the grinder will fill up.
