If so how much, can i still add to cold water** A: I have a top load washer and add the whole bottle of dye + whole bottle of fixative. I use only the water temp suggested on label. When I am done dying I run the washer with old towels and 1 cup oxy detergent with bleach to clean the tub. I then do a second rise and spin only. I dye faded navy and black cotton shorts and last time dyed light grey towel with hot pink dye and they came out the muted color I wanted of pink. Good luck, I have been dying clothes in the washer for years and it always best to wash those items by themselves the 1st time after dyed in case there is a reside of dye left in the fabric. The hot pink did turn the old towels a pink shade, so I was glad I did that. **Q: I bought a new wool rug. when i went to steam clean it, the dyes started coming up. can i use this product to fix the dyes on my wool rug?** A: If the dyes started to run with steam cleaning, then I would hesitate putting any liquid on the rug. If you think the rug is already damaged by the steam, it wouldn't hurt to try a small spot to see if the fixative can help salvage it.
