Absolutely love it!
I use this microscope for working on watches and repairing electronics and soldering. The stereoscopic nature of it allows you to have depth perception while working on small things. Normal microscopes only have one objective lens so it's like you're seeing the same image with both eyes thus it has no depth perception and is like looking at a photograph. With a stereoscopic microscope it's like looking at something in 3D instead of 2D. It makes manipulating small things like watch hands or parts of a watch much easier. The very useful and soldering or repairing small pieces of electronic devices like phones or other small electronics. This one has a true trinocular lens so you can put a camera on it and use both the camera and the stereoscopic eye pieces at the same time. It seems some trinocular microscopes cheat and only allow you to use one eye piece if you're using the camera as the camera uses the other lens taking away the whole advantage of having a stereoscopic microscope. The trinocular part means you have a third eyepiece for you to put a camera on It was a Little frustrating figuring out how to match the camera I bought with the right lens for it. These types of microscopes are designed for a full frame camera sensor. Those are typically fairly expensive. The inexpensive cameras that are made for microscopes have a 2.8 sensor which is a fraction of a full frame sensor. Buy a camera with a 2.8 sensor and you will need a lens, the one you will want is the 0.3 reduction lens. The 0.5 is more available and is cheaper but it will not give you the same field of view as you see through the eyepieces. I bought one and was very unhappy with it as I wanted to be able to record what I was seeing and much of it would be out of frame with a 0.5 lens. The camera will only show a small portion of what you see when you look through the microscope because it is not the right focal length. The perfect lens for these cameras would be a 0.28 reduction lens but that doesn't seem to be commercially available. The 0.3 reduction lens gives you about 90% of the field of view on the camera as you see through the eyepieces. The microscope is very adjustable and very heavy. It does not come with a light kit, you will need lighting or you will not be able to see what you're looking at very well if at all. My wife got me a light that attaches to the microscope and it works really well. I only wish that it had a better diffusion as the LEDs can reflect off the Crystal on watches or other reflective items you want to look at under the microscope. Quality is excellent. I am very happy with this purchase, my only frustration was figuring out the right lens for my camera which thankfully is over. The similar microscopes that are slightly less expensive will likely disappoint you. The two horizontal bars keep the head from rotating on you and the cheeper model makes you choose between stereoscopic view with depth perception or recording, but you can't do both at the same time. The levers instead of knobs make it much easier to lock things in place.

Great depth of field!
The Amscope SM-4TP stereo microscope is great. I had been using a digital microscope, which was good, but not having any depth of field meant having to place the soldering iron and solder close to the work first and then look at the magnified image to work got old fast. The image through the microscope is very sharp all around. The Amscope 0.5x Barlow lens and Amscope 144 LED light ring complement the microscope’s view nicely. I was quite surprised at how much the microscope arm and base weighed. The base plate alone must weigh about 45lbs (about 20.5kg) Together they make a solid mounting for the microscope so it takes quite a lot to make the image shake. Assembly wasn’t too difficult, but could have been helped with a ‘Quick Setup’ guide, or even just a picture included with it. I had to refer to the Amazon image to put things right. But that wasn’t a big problem. A worthwhile investment!

The Quality, and price!
Good Microscope, for my needs! I replace charge ports on many items, and this unit, along with other materials, works great! The quality, is pretty rock solid, and the people at AM Scope were "ALWAYS" very polite and VERY HELPFUL! One thing to keep in mind, is pending on the applications, make sure you get the proper Barlow lens for your scope. The standard on this unit allows you around 4"- 6" distance vertically. For example the SM-20 Barlow lens will bring the objects MUCH closer! So if you need room to solder....make sure you understand how the Barlow lens numbers work. IMPORTANT. I found out, and ending up returning for another lens. Am Scope was "AWESOME" on crediting back my money, and explaining all this to me. I ended up ordering the SM-05 05X, which gave me much better distance, for my working area. This is a VERY nice unit! A "VERY PLEASED" customer. I also ended up purchasing a nice, yet cheaper video camera head, that also worked great for this scope. The thing to keep in mind with this, is to make sure you get the "PROPER" adapters for the camera of choice.

To say I love this scope would be an understatement
To say I love this scope would be an understatement. Visual quality, operation and repeatability after swinging the unit out of the way and back is just great. I did not realize just how much a scope like this could transform my abilities in constructing prototype SMD boards and repairs. It makes my job better every time I use it. I combined it with: Camera: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015U163T0/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_5 Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079MLW5B3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Lamp: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007LBD8KA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_7 Lens : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007LBD8KA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_7 And the combo is incredible. Could not recommend more.

I use mine for component-level PCB repair, and it's stellar. Recommended.
