RH/DISNEY Cars (A Read-Aloud Storybook)

This collection of four board books is great for younger children, especially if they love the "Cars" movie. I purchased this for my 4 year old son back in 2011--he was about 18 months old at the time. We still have the books and yes, they are still in great condition. As you can imagine with a small boy, keeping books in good condition with him around is a challenge. It doesn't help that he actually likes to read. LOL The board books are perfect for him, because unless he cannot easily damage them--unless he makes a determined effort to do so. The books included in this set are "Mater", "Lightning McQueen", "Sally", and "Doc Hudson." Each story is told in the first person, and basically serves as an introduction of the character. For instance, in Doc's book he begins with "Hi, Folks! My name is Doc Hudson, and I'm the doctor and judge in Radiator Springs. I used to be a race car, but after I crashed, the racing world turned its back on me." He then proceeds to tell the story of how he came to live in Radiator Springs and his first meeting with Lightning. The story is really short, only five pages long, so the tale is really just a quick synopsis. The same is true for the other three books. All are written in a simple style, using easy-to-read words, and are beautifully illustrated. I see the product page has the recommended age range as 12 years and up. That must be a mistake. My son is 4 and he's just about outgrown these books. He still reads and enjoys them, but I would not buy them for him at this age. I'd say these books are good for kids 6 months-3 years old.

Great little book to carry around to keep the little ones amused. Great gift idea or stocking filler. Great buy.

My 15 month old boy is car mad so I thought this Cars book would suit him. The fact it is a board book too is perfect as he is a bit rough with paper pages. It is colourful and an interesting, basic, simple version of the film plot. It isn't too long and he likes to point at the cars and say "car" which is adorable. A big hit.
