It is perfect for me, unlike a previous bench. It comes made from real wood like the kind I grew up with. They put cool little discs over the screws or nails as well. It's very smooth. Well-sanded. Ready to be stained or finished. It's exactly what I would expect to buy from the old man up the street doing woodwork in his garage, making toys for kids and little knick-knacks and stuff.If you're on the cusp about this, I would suggest you give it a shot. It's perfect for seiza. If I need another bench, I'll just buy another of these and won't think twice. I'm actually using my zafu much less often now. Oh, and the cushion that it comes with is fine.
