I'm a geographer and was looking for a globe with the following features - (1) physical terrain and coloration shown rather than different bright colors for each separate country, (2) globe can positioned however I want to easily see any portion of it, including being able to flip it upside down to see Antarctica (3) sturdy, metal frame This globe has all those features. And I don't care about the slight misalignment of latitude and longitude lines, I'm not sure why that would matter to anyone. Also love how big this globe is, it's bigger than globes I've had in the past. Overall it's everything I wanted, so five stars.

I just received this globe a couple of days ago. The picture to this product shows teal green colored oceans and mostly green, and some beige land. The globe I received, the oceans are pale blue, not green, and most of the land is beige with some green. For instance, the picture online of this globe, India, is colored kind of a lime green, where as the globe I received, India, is colored a mustard color- beige, with a light hint of green. Aside from the differences in color, I do like this globe. It is still attractive, and practical. The textured relief to detail the earth's topography , and well as the ocean bottoms is very useful. The size is good for home use, also being able to move the globe enables me to see more of earth's southern features. *With this globe, came a letter from Replogle's "Updateable Globe Program", stating that if the earth changes, and you register your globe, you can receive 50% off an 'Updated' globe. I hope that is an offer I'll never have to consider. The world is changing.

I had read the reviews of this Globe and other Replogle Models prior to purchase. One thing that concerned me was the reports of misalignment's of Latitude and Longitude lines. Of course, this is the first thing I looked at upon arrival. Indeed there are some misaligned sections. Otherwise, this Globe is fabulous. So I had to decide if this misalignment was really an issue with a $100 Globe. My conclusion – IT IS NOT SIGNIFICANT. When I consider the methods of manufacturing this model, I am sure there is some acceptable tolerance for misalignment's. The pieces have to be printed flat and then cut and conformed to the spherical shape. It would be very hard to perfectly align every line, every time. See pictures below. The cuts begin above Latitude 75 and sometimes are misaligned by the time they get to the Equator. At the 30 Degree meridian they are off by 5/32 (the worst I see). Opposite that, at the 150 Degree meridian, they are off by 1/16 (=2/32). There is also some latitude misalignment as seen in the “SENEGAL” picture below, where you also see some text clipping on the word “Selibaby”. I am sure there is some variance on individual globes, and maybe you could get a ‘perfect” one for $1000 plus, but for me, this one is fine.

This product has surpassed my expectations. I bought this for my husband as a Father's day present. He had been wanting a globe for a loooong time, but not just any globe. Realistically I didnt want to spend an arm and a leg on one either. This globe is very good for the price. He loves the raised relief on it and the vividness of the colors, you can see the mountainous terrain even below sea level. This globe also comes with a mini booklet that gives you ways on how to use it including a dial for time zone difference around the world. The base is metal and it looks great in his "man cave"/office. Also I want to add that this item was shipped super fast! I didn't exepct it so soon so I actually had to control myself to not want him to open it before Father's day cuz it was just sitting there tempting me. LOL

Seems good, although pricey. Find the details hard to read. Next time i would order a 24" globe.
