I'm a skinny little ol' lady and it helps me get up from kneeling and is a sturdy seat. Mine came assembled, but I never tried to fold it.

What are the Foil stickes usedfor?

The foil stickers are used to cover the seeds in the sponge when you place the basket and sponge in the hole. It's meant to keep the light from creating algae growing on the sponge and seeds. When the solution you use is exposed to the lights it creates algae. If the hole is to big for your seeds then you can use tin foil in its place with a smaller hole poked in the center to keep much of the light out.
