The Cowin E8 has oval over the ear sound cups with a tapered pointy bottom. When the cups go bad, the leatherette starts flaking and the edges come loose from the inner lining. To replace the ear cups you start with one side and need something thin and non-sharp to slip inbetween the leatherette cup and actual hard plastic hardware cup with the electronics. Start on the side, not the Top or Bottom. There is a flat tab with a little knurled edge like a hook on the Top and Bottom and Two flat tab hooks on each side. You need the leverage to make one let go, and then gently wiggle side to side to release all the other clips without breaking them. It does take some force and may feel glued or sealed, but it is not.. it is only the clips holding the cups. - When you have an old leatherette cup off, you need to pull off the outer ring of old leatherette from the plastic frame underneath the lip of the old leatherette. The side that was glued or ahered to that faces flush to the with the hardware cup has 1/4 inch doublesided adhesive tape holding the leatherette ring to the plastic ring. Grab each side of the tape and then lift it up until it lets go and do this all around the ring. the Leatherette ring will come loose and separate from the inner ring of leatherette. Fold that inner ring back over the plastic side that sat flush with the hardware cup. The New leather ring goes on intuitively and has its own inner felt layer for sitting against the ear.. so the condition .. flaky or not.. of the inner ring material that sits against your real ear doesn't matter, its covered over. The start with one side of clips gnawing at the edge of the plastic ring and shove over to hook the other clips.. its hard to describe, just work around until they are clipped again and it looks brand new. The look is very very good. It looks better than new, and its easy once you have done it once.. but it takes a lot of time and patience the first time. Be sure not to toss the old leatherette ear cup until you salvage the plastic inner ring! Its a very important piece which fits very snug once the hardware cup grasps it with the plastic clips.

Work just as advertised. My original ones started to peel off. This hold well so far, after few months of use.

I am very happy with the quality and availability of the replacement earpads, particularly since these earpads were sold out on the Cowin website at the time I made this order (that, and they wanted about $5 more).However, I wish there had been some notice in the package that I needed to take out the magnetic inserts from the old, factory-provided earpads and insert them into the new ones. I initially thought I had been sent the wrong product when the new earpads did not "stick" to the headphones. However, I soon realized that I needed to place the magnetic inserts in the original earpads into the replacement earpads, which the factory at Cowin had glued in. Once I did that everything was perfect and I'll be looking to this vendor first when these earpads eventually wear out. (I use my headphones almost every day! :o) ) In the end, it's not that big a deal - I am just posting this tip to help others just like I have been also helped by product tips that others have posted on the Web :o).

They don’t have the magnetic insert so take that out of the old. The original insert was slightly glued in so took a minute to get out. I did not Glue it to the new ones and seems fine.

Removed the other ones. Put these on.No glue, no adhesive and no plastic tool to wench it on.

They are thin, they could be better

Pry the old ear cup away from the headphones with a butter knife, cut the remnants of the old ear cup away from the ear cup frame, slide the replacement ear cup in place over the ear cup frame, then replace onto the headphones. To tell you the truth, I thought it would be more difficult. Fits well and feels just as comfortable as the original. These are expensive, but still cheaper than replacing the headphones.

The replacement pads fit like a glove for my e8 the old ones were glued on but it didn't take any hassle to peel it off I'm just not even gonna glue on my new ones on for easy cleaning.

Bought the ear pads to replace the original ones, which were disintegrating. It was easy to replace the ear pads magnetics to the new ones. The new pads feel softer than the original ones. It fits better over my ears and there is less sound leaks.
