Best tensioner made !!!
Remove the ratchet pin or grind off the teeth. Works best if it releases tension when oil pump is not running. Ford tried ratcheting tensioner and killed timing chains on newer engines. But without teeth its the best you can get. No plate needed with last model 5.4v3.

Worth the money don’t waste your time with the OEM
I’ve had these on my truck for over two years now and I do a lot of traveling so plenty of miles for a good review. I gotta say I couldn’t be more happy it’s a no brainer over the POS OEM ones they are plastic and the seals always blow out No matter what you do . These are cast-iron with the ratcheting feature so you won’t have to worry about your timing chains being loose on cold start up definitely worth the money and reusable for your next timing job just keep the pins . Also no need for RTV just torque to spec with a little bit of blue Thread lock . Hope this helps anyone that had the same problems I did.

no more chain slap noise
These are a huge improvement over stock. Stock at Idle did not have the oil pressure to keep tension on chain and were noisy. These latch and keep the chain tighter and cut down the noise.

Excellent upgrade!
if your timing chain rattles upon startup, and check engine throws a code for retarded timing. Old ones are just spring loaded, these are ratcheting to hold the chain in place. It only needs 18 ft lb torque.

5.4 triton upgrade
bought to replace my OEM tensioners on my 05 f150 however found a dealer who sold me the pair for not much more than I paid for this single one. Its exactly like the other I bought which fit perfectly and work worlds better than the cheap plastic ones.
