Review: Excellent value - These tiles are Zentangle Apprentice tiles, which means that they are 4.5 inches rather than 3.5. The material is different than the material used in traditional Zentangle tiles but it is still of very high quality. I also appreciate that I received 140 of these tiles. The extra inch provides ample room for me to practice my tangles and is also perfect for beginners and children. Graphite lays and blends quite nicely on the surface when shading tangles. While Zentangle is the intended use, the tiles have many other applications which are only limited by your imagination. I like to practice Celtic Knotwork patterns on them and I also enjoy drawing small scenic illustrations. Really, you can use them for anything you would normally use quality paper for. I have not yet used my TomBow dual brush pens on these but I have successfully used graphite, charcoal, Sakura Micron pens, graphic pens and the like without bleedthrough or other common paper type issues. I really enjoy using these and I think the adult or child artist in your family will too. Depending on where you search, they're listed as anywhere from 90-100 lb. Unlike the standard Zentangle tiles, the paper these are made from is smooth. **Q: What size are the pens? .01 or are they larger?** A: The pens are a .05, however, the tile are larger and more of a bristol paper than the fine Italian paper a regular tile is made of. These pens are great for all ages and especially is the person using it has a heavy hand. There is no felt tip but a hard tip so it if gets pressed too hard or drops on the floor there is no damage to the tip. The ink is the same.
