I put some on leather for stropping knives and tools and it works perfectly for that application, both faster to sharpen and much less messy than wax compounds. For larger things or metal, a piece of scrap leather like suede or a chamois is more aggressive. What kind of applicator would be the best for something like this? Cloth, microfiber cloth, hand??** A: I would start with the 100000 grit which is the less aggressive compound of the 3 and I would hand polish it with a microfiber cloth. If your results aren't quit what you expected then go to the next grid which is 50000 and if that works then finish it off again with the 100000 to get a smooth blemish free surface. Side note, if your nail gets into the scratch, forget it and call it a day since nothing will fix that severe of damage. **Q: For camera lens with deep scratches, would you recommend 4000, 8000 & 50000? Hand polish it or use dremel? Thanks** A: Don't use a dremel! I used a dremel to polish a knife blade and spent 4 days trying to fix the damage. **Q: What would you recommend to polish hard plastic to a glass like finish?** A: They make a special polish for this. This is American Made goodness right here and I have used this to put mirror-polished edges on several knives. This even worked to rehabilitate and knife I had previously abandoned becuase I could not get it to take an edge. So this worked to put an edge on a knife that was otherwise useless and was ready to be discarded. I paired this with leeather strops from Sharpal, Bacher, BeaverCraft, and TSPROF and have used the different strops for differnt grit of compound so as to have different levels of grit to graduate to. They all took this compound well. I suggest conditioning the leather ahead of time before adding the stropping compound. I have found that rubbing the compound in evenly and letting it dry for a few minutes has yielded best results. Also, a little goes a long way so very little is used and this lasts a long time. after the initial Even coating distribution a dab every 10th sharpening has been my pattern.
