We live upstairs in a 2 family house and have had tenants for 5+ years downstairs. We could always hear what's going on downstairs, hear the tenant's alarm clock, etc. We also had a tenant move out because they felt our tv was too loud - it wasn't that loud but you can imagine how bad the soundproofing was between floors. We used the Green Glue Noiseproofing Sealant and Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound together. We sheetrocked over the existing 1/2" sheetrock with 5/8" sheetrock in the downstairs living room and used the both the sealant and compound in that room. We ripped out the ceiling in the bedroom downstairs, insulated with Roxul sound proof insulation, put up 5/8" sheetrock, used the green glue sealant and compound then put another piece of 5/8" sheetrock over that. We are overall satisfied with the results. Nothing will stop the people downstairs from hearing our footsteps, we have hardwood floors upstairs and we are NOT getting carpet. The footsteps are not as loud. The voices do not carry like they used to and we can sometimes hear the tenants downstairs (my dad and his wife) but we have no idea what they are saying. We used to be able to hear the conversations loud and clear. I can tell they are watching tv but I cannot tell what show they are watching, used to be able to hear every word of what the tenant was watching. So it really does work. Nothing is 100% soundproof. I am a doctor of audiology (Au.D.) and I have taught classes on hearing for many years. Even a soundproof booth is not 100% soundproof. SO if you expect to completely soundproof between floors and/or rooms, you will be disappointed. If you are realistic with your expectations, you will be very satisfied with this product.

Great stuff. Pay attention to the size. 28oz is the big stuff; you'll need a bigger gun. (Not those guns.)

the Price was right as well, but after Covid. the price raise too much to buy again. Hope they have on sale some time. I will buy more. Make sure you glue it around the gap. between wall and windows. it work very well, I have to close out my window completely because the neighbor back alley very noise after complain so many times. I put the noise proof 1 pound 3 feet by 100 feet role. 2 layer outside and 2 layer inside first I put this glue on first or you don't have to. but you must put this glue in between. . then after. give it a good amount and sound completely proof. work very well.

Compared to other acoustic sealant I have used these tubes have very little air in them. I have used 18 tubes so far and have only experienced 0-1 'pops' per tube. By 'pop' I mean when you are laying a bead and the air trapped in the tub explosively comes out, messing up your bead and sometimes making a mess. These tubes still have the problem, but much less frequently than what I am used to. This compound is also extremely smooth and tools very easily. There is a small amount of shrinkage, so I do recommend you follow the recommend drying period and go over your beads and make sure no separation has occurred. If it has lay down a new bead, tool, and wait again. If you can't afford to wait and check for shrinkage I recommend you keep your gaps small (1/8" or less) or use another compound.
