There are 3 scales: BRIX % 58-90, Water % 10-33, Degrees Be' 38-43. This refract. is inexpensive and targeted at for honey - but if the other scales are right for your other uses, I'd try it, but double check the results. I have a much more expensive refract I use for brewing. I bought the honey refract. because it has the honey moisture scale and was inexpensive so I could take it to the field and not worry about it. **Q: What is the accuracy? A more expensive model claims accuracy within .2 degrees; this looks difficult to take a reading more than one degree apart.** A: I would say a half a percentage is accurate. I checked it with olive oil and a store bought honey bottle. If I'm that close on moisture I'm just going to recycle it through the hive again. **Q: If i use extra virgin olive oil what should the brix scale be on** A: About 27.
