Solid Look, Easy To Install
Very solid easy to install lock. Heavy duty this was easy to install, it fit the doorframe perfectly and it functions as it should. Great lock, great price!

Good but better suited for utility room than front door
Replaced one just like it that was at least 15 year old. Using it on a very old and lightweight door that‘s too thin to take a deadbolt assembly. This is a reliably built, jimmy-proof surface lock. I don’t believe it’s as stout as a deadbolt. But it does a fine job on a door that anyone could easily blow through regardless of which lock was on the door. Probably better suited for a utility room than the front door of your house.

Requires careful installation and very lightweight
Update to previous review. I took it apart and reinstalled it and it is now working fine. You need to find the proper position to install the pin that connects the cylinder to the lock. I tried a couple more times and now the lock turns much better. It is still quite lightweight and flimsy but at least I don't live in constant fear of being locked out of my house. This works but it is very flimsy. It is very light weight, compared with the one that it replaced. The locking mechanisms are not well aligned and don't move smoothly. Sometimes it gets stuck. I hope we don't get locked out at the most inconvenient time and end up paying serious money for a lock smith. Having said this, a more expensive "name brand" lock that I purchased, albeit studier, doesn't work much better than this one. Quality has gone out the window across the board!!!

Fist Exactly Where the Old Lock Was
My Dad installed this lock at least 20 years ago. It finally quit working. The cylinder would turn but the locking mechanism would not engage. It was not available locally at the 3 places I checked so I went to Amazon to get it. It is just like the old one and fits exactly. This made it easy for me to install with no problems. The door is 70 years old. If this new lock quits working, I will probably have to replace the door instead of the lock. Glad I found it on Amazon, and really glad the style has not changed since my Dad bought the first one. Recommend it for durability and safety. If you are installing it on a door that has never had a lock like this, it will be more complicated. I am not that skilled. The instruction are very clear and explain how to do it, and templates are included.

Good security.
Replaced an old, same style, one side keyed lock with inside knob lock on a door with upper glass. Easy to install, great instructions.
