Don’t worry that these aren’t from Italy
These are the only tomatoes that I cook with. The flavor is fantastic and the quality is outstanding. The late, great Marcella Hazan wrote the bible on Italian cooking and had this to say about canned tomatoes: “there should be no pieces, no sauce in the can, nothing but whole, firm-fleshed tomatoes, with a little of their juice”. These are those tomatoes. Even imported tomatoes from San Marzano usually contain a heavy tomato sauce and wilted basil in the can and I have been disappointed with nearly all of the ones I’ve tried. These are so much better. Everyone needn’t be so hung up on imported being better when this product proves that isn’t true. I’m delighted to use these every chance I get.

Delicious tomatoes, do not listen to the American test kitchen review
I have used this product for some time now. I find the tomatoes absolutely delicious. They are not fresh but they sure taste that way to me. The tomatoes are well peeled and packed in tomato sauce, rather than water. The tomatoes are firm and slice-able, if needed. I plan to use them on my home made Margherita pizza, in addition to making sauces.

It's so nice to get canned tomatoes that taste good AND are clean right out of the can. There's no trimming or coring necessary.

Not up to the hype
I’m a La Valle or Cento user. While the taste of these are excellent, I was quite disappointed that the majority were not ripe (yellowish top, overly firm flesh). I hand crush for my sauce and for the first time had to take out the top on almost every one. So for $6/can there are better options.

Favorite canned tomatoes for sauce
These are wonderful peeled tomatoes that I use for my tomato sauce. Not too sweet, not bland at all. Simply well-balanced and delicious.

Fabulous!
If you like to fry your tomatoes when making certain Italian sauces or heavy-bodied stews, real San Marzano tomatoes are so soft and sweet that they collapse and disappear in the pan. This brand -- though not authentic -- is absolutely perfect for my needs: the tomatoes are firm, voluminous, and saute beautifully. Highly recommended.
