An all-around slicer
If you like a relatively thin, slicey flat-grind blade in a camping knife, read on. That's what you've got here, a big, broad blade with a distinctive bog-oak handle. As many have noticed, it should excel for food prep, but do fine with other tasks including bushcrafting things. I probably won't carve many spoons in my life but I sure do like to cook and eat. I knew this was a line of pretty good budget knives, but once I learned they were made in Ukraine I had to pick one out and buy it, and luckily this guy is perfect for me. The sheath is really nice, thick leather, well made, and very tight. I doubt it will ever loosen up to the point it's a problem. And yes, it's very, very sharp out of the box. All knives dull with use, so that's not a long-term plus, you have to be able to resharpen that knife, but it tells you the makers are meticulous and too proud to let a just-OK edge go out the door. Also it's made of a solid carbon steel, and and you know it'll resharpen up beautifully because of that excellent factory edge. If this knife doesn't meet your needs they have others, but if it does don't hesitate. Yes, it's high value, but more than that I think this guy will prove its worth in any campsite task you put it to. I'm just glad I got in on, if not the ground floor, early enough to benefit.

Excellent especially for the price!
This is my second bps knife. The first was the Camp knife with the Ferro rod and Scandi grind. An excellent bushcraft knife. But the Scandi grind is not ideal for food prep. This is one reason I got the Savage. The full flat grind is similar to that of a heavy French chef's knife. Also, I fell in love with the look of it! It's a very fine, workmanlike knife-- fits the hand perfectly, arrived razor sharp and holds an edge well and sharpens easily. The fit and finish is imperfect. Bog oak (very nice handle) needs a little sanding and another coat of Danish oil. The full tang needs a look over and any overy crisp edges softened. Others have criticized the sheath, saying it did not fit. That was my first impression but I smeared a lot of beeswax leather conditioner on it and heated it over the stove to melt it into the leather. I inserted the knife (tight fit), added more conditioner and heat--and now the knife is a near perfect fit, and with use, it will become perfect. For the price--this is a stupendous knife!

Good knife for the money
Made in Ukraine (Slava Ukraini!). Medium carbon steel so easy to put an edge on and maintain it. The diameter of the handle is a bit on the smaller side, so it would be ideal for the lady campers and those with smaller hands. If you've got great huge mitts, it might take some getting used to. The blade is thick enough to be stiff and sturdy, but not so thick that it makes the blade overly heavy. To me, this and the flat grind leans it to a slicer role rather than a chopper. Great camp chef knife.

BPS
Very well-made, knife, the thickness and taper grind give it a very smooth cut. Has spent the last several months in my kitchen and has maintained a good edge At first, I thought the grip maybe a little thin for my large hands, but it’s quite comfortable

A few issues (updated)
**Company reached out to me to try and resolve the issues but as i said they were small and easily fixed great customer service is rare theses days so they have earned a life long customer. Will be ordering more knives in a few weeks.** I love the knife but a few small issues. First it was not sharp at all but was easily fixed. Second the knife was very rough out of the box. The edges of the spine were sharp enough to cut me and there are tool marks all over the knife. Third the sheath is a terrible fit for the knife as it cuts into the sheath every i take in or out of the sheath. I have fixed all these issues easily but seems like more quality control is needed. That being said after some work it is a great blade.

Knife = Good / Sheath = Good/ knife + sheath = bad
You can get a negative from 2 positives. The knife is great, lite, thin, sharp, even grind. The sheath is good quality thick leather with a nice dangler and belt loop combo… Unfortunately the sheath is not designed for this blade and the blade will cut the inside while being sheathed. Very hard to push in… Sheath is for the BPS HK5 blade. I have the hk5 as well and it’s the same sheath. The HK5 fits the Savage’s sheath perfectly. If the sheath fit this knife it would be a complete value. It is a big issue for me to have a knife that cuts the sheath. HK5 is a better buy and a little thicker than this blade. The savage is a little thicker than a kitchen knife (you bush guys will love the thin profile and 90 degree spine). That 90 degree spine runs through the entire handle, but you do not feel any discomfort while using the knife (none at all). Fit and finish is safe to say rough around the edges but acceptable for the price. The knife itself exceeded my expectations, the sheath (fit only, materials are good) is a disappointment. Hk5 was great knife, I wish the hk6 was available on Amazon. This will not retire me from these knives but if you plan on only buying 1 BPS go for a model that has an appropriate sheath supplied. Everything else is great with the price in mind.

First of all, not razor sharp out of the box, I’d actually consider this quite dull for a factory edge, not to worry though; that’s easy enough a fix. Blade grind is full flat, a little overly full flat, so much so; that the spine of the knife has thinned all the way from the tip to the “ricasso”, resulting in a thinner spine on an already quite thin bar stock. To make it worse, it’s offset on one side. All of the grizzly aside, it’s probably worth the money, more of a food prep knife than a hardcore bushcrafting deal. The sheath is exceptional quality, very tight fit, so tight it will take some application of dubbin and some working to get it to relax a little for a nice set fit. 110% on the sheath. All in all, it will make a decent addition to a camp kitchen or as a dedicated food prep knife, make sure you take care of the carbon steel and clean/oil after all use!

I believe the description says shaving sharp out of the box, this is true. Mine came very sharp, and is holding and edge extremely well. It did a great job of feathering some curls effortlessly. I have not tried batonning for kindling with this knife yet and I'm not sure I will - the blade is just as shown and advertised but I really like a little thicker steel blade and maybe a little longer to do something like batonning with and smashing around. Although I am a hypocrit in saying that because I have abused my Mora Kniv in such a manner and it survives fine. I will likely try it someday. That being said this is a great and light weight knife! The wooden scales may have shrunk a little, the tang was a little abrasive in the handle but after a little light sanding and some oil later the fitment seems to be 100 percent and looks nice. The handle is comfortable and easy to hold in both fore and reverse grips. This knife will absolutely go on my ruck or on my belt next trip out. I could see it being useful in nearly all tasks you would use a knife for (and some you shoudln't lol) also the spine of the blade is very nice for firestick magnesium sparking and un barking limbs or any scraping. The leather sheath included is decent and will do nicely. Being a leather worker I have plans to make something more customized to me and my ensemble but there is nothing wrong with what came with the knife at all and seems to be well oiled and not dried out like rawhide and gross. Overall - very happy with it, and for the price may buy another to keep around for general use around the farm.
