Modern Masters Metal Effects Copper Paint and Green Patina Kit (4-Ounce)

This stuff is amazing. Not only does it do what it says it's super easy to apply. I personally air brush it mostly so it goes way further than brushing it. What surprises me is for a water based acrylic it's incredibly durable to handling. It's a water based acrylic so most solvents, house cleaners will effect it much like interior wall paints. As just straight paint it's looks like copper colored paint, you wont confuse it with real metal at all. Still a pleasing color that even brushed dries nice and smooth. Activate it looks like real tarnished copper. The only down side is you can't really clear it with paint to get a more durable finish. If you do the greenish tarnish turns a grayish black ruining the effect. In my experience this common to most realistic metal finishes. You might be able to apply a clear wrap to it, like the stuff they use optionally to protect car finishes. Still the stuff looks great. I used it on a sandwash (paint with sand in it to add texture) painted Styrofoam head and it's looks a pricey sculpture, if you didn't touch it looks like aged cast copper. Getting the hang of applying the weather agent for realism take some trial and error but in my experience the result always look good even if not realistic. By that I mean achieving that natural looking tarnishing effect over time and not just spritzed on which still looks really cool. In fact for that realistic effect I used my air brush for that too, the spray applicator is a bit crude although I imagine with practice you achieve similar results, I just used the tools I know and have.

I ordered the kit and there was plenty to cover a large flower pot I use on my front porch. I was questioning why I didn't just use spray paint. However....the results were just lovely. The copper is very realistic and the patina made it look truly authentic. I want to change everything in my house copper now!!!!!

This is just magical! And the great thing is that a little goes a long way. I was surprised at how many buckets, window boxes and flower pots I could cover with this set. It is pricey, but worth the results.

This trio works great. WARNING: the Modern Masters Permacoat Xtreme sealer recommended by the company results in a GLOSSY finish that totally negates the realistic look of the patina. I called customer service, and they said that unfortunately, that sealer is the only one that can be used on this oxidized paint due to its PH compatibility. Bummer.

I repainted an old bar table. After putting on the copper, I stenciled motifs with acryclic paint. After I used the activator I got a nice patina. The shellac I used damped the patina a little bit, so make sure you use the right one. But the table looks amazing. The pain cleans up easily and dries quickly.

Used it on wine cellar door I made for a customer. Came out great and customer was happy.

The Patina effect was negligible. I have a copper table as a result with no Patina. A waste of money.

I was skeptical on how this was going to work, but the results were amazing! I love how this sphere turned out. It looks like a rusty iron sphere but it is actually made out of concrete. I will purchase again and again if needed.
