Solid, Beautiful Watch. Recommended!
I have had three of these watches over the past year and a half. The first one was a gift that I later lost at a basketball game. Needless to say, I was really bummed! So, the second was a replacement gift the following Christmas. This one had an issue with the day/date window, so I had it returned and exchanged. Amazon made that process smooth and easy. The third one is my current watch, which I've worn daily for the past year. The stainless steel case stands up to a lot of daily dings and bumps. It's sustained a few minor scratches, but in my opinion, that's part of the watch's character. The leather strap is phenomenal. It's a beautiful piece of Horween leather which is the perfect thickness and is very high quality. I like that this strap is not imprinted to look like crocodile or something of that nature (I've noticed that's a common theme for leather watch bands), but is a simple full-grain piece of cowhide. It's also a gorgeous watch that has received quite a few compliments. The deep blue face is a captivating color. My only beef with the watch is that the second hand doesn't perfectly align with the tick marks on the watch face. It's odd because this has been the case for all three of the watches. Quality control issue? Other than that, I love this watch, and definitely plan on saving up and getting another in the future.

This basic watch could deliver a lot more than it currently does."*
*"It’s a good watch with a nice design. However, I feel it should at least have a light or an option to illuminate the display so you can see the time at night. That feature is essential, and unfortunately, it’s missing. Please take note for the next edition of this beautiful watch."*

Very nice quality
Great quality. Not too big or small. Handsome shape. Great light up colors. Easy to read. Buttons are a little tough/ resistant to push is all.

Great aesthetic. Abysmal functionality.
I don’t review often, but i felt that this piece deserves an honest appraisal. In short, this watch is absolutely not worth the $150 MSRP. And I still think that I would’ve been disappointed if it was half the price, but maybe then I could have at least provided the watch 2 stars. The watch is aesthetically pleasing and the case design and machining is good. It’s a good watch to look at. Because of this, I want to like this watch, but it’s impossible to justify the cost. If you are looking for intuitive, functionality, frankly ANY other watchmaker provides a better design/layout. I’m serious. For me, the functionality is just so bad that it destroys any pleasure I may take from the watch. I had the watch for a total of about an hour and a half before returning it to the UPS store. Pros- Screen is quite crisp and legible, which is surprising for a negative display. No gripes there. The case is very pleasing aesthetically. Low profile and comfortable. The lugs are downturned and hug the wrist. Would likely make the watch quite comfortable. The machining on the pushers look pleasant as well. And that’s about it actually… Now for the cons- The module functionality, intuitiveness and button layout is pretty bad. Actually, it’s awful. This has been covered pretty extensively by many other users. I went into this purchase optimistic, hoping that maybe people were just being nitpicky. No, no, the button functionality is comically bad. The tactile “feel” of the buttons is just shameful. The ‘A’ button has a slight indent or click with its actuation. The ‘B’ pusher has none and ranges from “did I press it?” to “I don’t want to damage it”. I’m left feeling surprised when I can fully cycle through the modes without the “B” pusher glitching. You will be lucky if you can trigger the backlight without switching modes. It honestly renders the watch functionally useless. Barring button function, the module/brain, whatever you choose to call it (meaning the operations of the watch and how to control it) has a poor layout and is difficult to program and use. I would argue that with Times/Casio you can almost figure out programming on your own. Here, your left scratching your head. I have a pretty extensive collection of digital Casios/Timex’s and this module is honestly the worst I’ve ever experienced. I’m left feeling that I wouldn’t recommend this watch or any in the Nixon line for that matter based on the presentation here. If this is what Nixon considers quality… stay away. It’s like they designed a very pleasing physical product on CAD, but then purchased the cheapest module possible. The buttons… I just can figure out. How are they so bad? In closing, if you care nothing about functionality, and want to over pay for a pleasing looking watch, then you won’t be disappointed. But if you care anything about functionality, go for anything else.

Unique digital watch for modern days
Short version, the Nixon Heat is a great watch to me due to its screen layout but it does have some possible deal breakers. Almost everything right about this watch was great to have but so close but so far from perfect. Despite that, I would buy again. Casio should take note at this screen layout. For comparison the Nixon Regulus MK1 is in the background with the black nylon band. - Pro: -EASY to read, this is the selling feature. Surprisingly even moderate light it is still legible. In very low light my analog watches are the way to go though. See con for the flipside.- -The Chrono feature is very welcome but see cons- -The Alarm feature is very welcome but see cons- -I really like the aluminum body, just very well executed- -The band is very comfortable and I prefer this on hot days or at the pool- -Dual time zones are quite nice, budget GMT if you think about it. Easy to access as well.- -Two button navigation is easy to use but see cons- - The Cons!!! -The biggest con with this watch is that the buttons offer no feedback and need to be pressed firmly. The activation zone is narrow, combined with no audible or mechanical feedback, makes it the worst thing about this watch. Sometimes a lighter touch is needed but then sometimes you need to press it firmly (2 different watches did this) but because of all the other features, I deal with it. -While easy to read, the backlight button is hard to access and quite dim, even compared to their own Regulus.- -Chrono stops at 99min, sure better than many anaolog 1hr chrono but the regulus eventually switches from minutes to hours and if this offered that, it would vastly improve the chrono function for me personally- -Alarm is welcome but it only beeps for about 8-10 seconds, 30 seconds at least would be nice as it is not very loud but I think loud enough, just needs to beep longer- -Love the hour indicator but think it syncs to the minute, so if you adjusted your time and set the minute when the seconds were at 20 seconds, it seems that the chime happens at that 20 second point rather than exactly at the hour. Weird but whatever. - - What I would like in a V2- -Fix the buttons, make them more like the Regulus MK1 but with a lighter touch than them. If that is not possible, just put the Regulus mk1 buttons on this. Those have a physical breaking point as to when the actuation happens so there is no mistaking when the click happens. -make the Chrono work like the Regulus where it switches to hours:mins to extend the capability -make the alarm beep for a longer period of time, 30-60 seconds pls -A slightly larger version would be cool with a 22mm lug width and a slightly larger watch body. - - Overall, I think Nixon has a solid watch on their hands that really needs a V2 to fix these issues. I just can't find anything else like this on the market. Love it really but it does have it's tradeoffs.

Great watch! It does have a backlight!
FIRST: for all those wondering this wonderful watch DOES HAVE A BACKLIGHT! I couldn’t find any information about the backlight even on the Oficial website, but for those hesitating to buy it because of the light, just know it does have a backlight , you turn it on by pressing both buttons. Also I Love my watch! great buy! It’s simple and so slim I never take it off because I almost can’t feel it. And has all I need for a watch, time (chimes every hour, but you can turn it off), chronometer, timer and a second time. So I highly recommend.

Not practical minimalist watch
Good looking yes, a little bit small than 40mm watches. I am engineer trying to have a minimalist but very practical watch, this is not really: - Good inverse screen with non standard segmented digits which is cool from the japanese circuit provider. - DOES NOT have Alarm (perhaps Japanese doesn't need it), the weird thing is it has timer and chronograph! - It has two time zones, but there is a Bug, if you choose show day in time 1 and month for the date in time 2, it will force month of the day for time 1!!! are not independent. - Now the worst part of this watch: you have to press two frontal buttons to turn the backlight display, guess what (and I noticed several complaints reviews about it) if you don't press correctly it will switch to the second time zone or chronograph or timer !! those buttons are really not precise. You could have a better buttons in the Casio o plastic toy watch of your kids !!! believe me. For 150 bucks watch is really a design failure. - No option to avoid seconds of the time display, if you are paranoid you will feel anxious looking the seconds running. - For the cost, a radio time sync might be appreciated like Casios - The second time might be sync in terms of minutes and seconds from the first time! Is not smart to setting the time of the 2nd time including the minutes and seconds. - Beep each hour is fine, but sounds alternatives might be good to customize the minimalism (which is the success of some watches) - No options of different wrist straps, the marketing of this company is good but personalization is a gap.
