The WordFriends go on comic adventures and face challenges that can only be resolved with the right word. That word is built letter-by-letter, sound-by-sound, during the funky "Build a Word" song at the end of every episode. Once the word is built, it morphs--or comes alive-- into the thing it is! Word building reinforces the pre-reading concept that letters (and their sounds) make words, and that words have real meaning...and power. The series introduces literacy concepts that preschoolers will encounter as they become readers, such as sounding out letters and rhyming. But most of all, WordWorld helps children get excited about reading and see words as their friends! Includes these episodes: Pig's Present: When Pig tries to peek at the gift his nephews are word building for his birthday, he receives an unexpected present: a lesson in patience. The Race to Mystery Island: Pig and Frog take the competitive spirit a bit too far when they go all-out on a word building race to Mystery Island. But it's teamwork that eventually turns them into winners. The Rainbow Birthday Cake: While Duck makes Frog the biggest, most colorful birthday cake ever, he learns about recycling and the many words that start with the word "can." One Hat Fits All: On a windy day, the WordFriends discover that a word can have different meanings each time they build a magical H-A-T. Review In Word World, set in a lush landscape filled with funny barnyard animals, the messages are clearer: because each animal is graphically spelled out, kids can watch as the letters P-I-G form that porcine creature. Even the scenery gets in on the act- a barn, a tree, a splash in the lake. When animals take time to build a word (always a moment of great expectation and jubilation), you can actually witness the little wheels working in the viewers' heads. Kids loved it.
My kids love WordWorld and, unfortunately, our local PBS station recently stopped carrying it. I went online to find some DVD's and decided on this one to start (I purchased this shortly before Halloween).The kids loved it and, believe me, we watched it almost constantly. However, keep in mind that this is just 2 episodes of WordWorld...it is nothing different from what would have been shown on TV.But, hey, it kept my kids entertained while I made dinner and that's a win in my book.

WordWorld are the best!!!
My little girl has been watching wordworld since she was 11 months and enjoys it very much! She is 14 months now and she laughs, dances and trys to say words from the dvds. I would recommend wordworld to any child as it sounds out words and encourages children to interact. I have about 8 dvds and she loves them all.I was one of those moms that my child would not watch tv, but when you are a working mom, these dvds come in handy while you are doing your house work. They are also getting an education at the same time.Love, Love, Love WordWorld!!! Will continue to order them and will continue to order from this seller!

Keeps their interest.
This was purchased for a young man who has disabilities. He loves it. It keeps his interest with the bright colors and the actions of the characters.

Yet another adorable WordWorld! Perfect Halloween Treat!
My daughter loves WordWorld and I cannot get over how quickly she picks up on the sounds and spellings after watching these episodes. The "building" of words by putting the letters together provides a great way to memorize the words. The characters are adorable and the working of the sounds and word families into the storyline is so natural and creative all at once. The only thing that can bother me (and I am probably being too picky) is when the characters face the reverse direction and the spelling looks flipped (this isn't often & hasn't seemed to affect her learning of the words).

One of our favorites
I have to admit that I love Word World almost as much as my daughter. My grandson Edwin (just 6 and starting school in Georgia ...
My grandson Edwin (just 6 and starting school in Georgia [USA] today, 8-4-14), had wanted this DVD for a long time, so yesterday we sat down and watched it. He is into Words by all means and did well on the spelling test I gave him after viewing this DVD two times. It seemed to us that it did not last long enough, not long enough to curb the hunger for more. It was well worth it!

Super pour s'initier à l'anglais en mémorisant aussi le mot.
les DVD sont très ludiques. le jeu utilise les différentes mémoires, superbes dessins, too cool! dis ma fillette qui répète volontiers le smots et les écrits. c'est entrainant à plusieurs enfants aussi.

リージョンフリーのDVDデッキがないと見れませんが、word worldは画像もきれいで、出てくるキャラクターや物が単語をつなげて出来ているので、見ながら自然に簡単な単語も覚えれる優れものだと思います。ユーモアもあるので、息子も私も笑いながら見ています。息子pigがお気に入りです。このＤＶＤのお話は、1.A Kooky Spooky Halloween2.Sheep's Halloween Costumeの2話で、時間は30分です。リージョンコードフリーのＤＶＤデッキは安いもので3000円台で探せはあるので、海外の幼児が見ている番組を見せたい方にはおすすめです。word worldは㏄マーク(クローズドキャプション）コードは書いてありませんが、㏄デコーダーをお持ちの方はそれも接続すれば、絵が3分の1近く隠れてしまいますが、字幕も出てきますよ。
