Short review: This is the best toilet seat lock I've tried (and I am ashamed to admit that we've tried a few now). It's easy to install, and secure. Details: We bought a few different toilet seat locks to keep our toddler's curiosity at bay, but a number of them require some form of modification to the seat itself, or the tank. While we weren't really against that, we were very concerned that the adhesives wouldn't hold if our kid really gave the seat a tug. (I'm not entirely sure this would hold up, either, but if he gets violent with it, the lock will open and not damage the rest of the toilet seat, anyway.) INSTALLATION: Pretty simple. You snap little spacers between what works as a sort of C-clamp around the inside of the toilet bowl, and this holds it in place. You can only uninstall it if you can get inside the toilet bowl in the first place, so the kid is powerless against it. One thing I will note is, I did run into an issue with one of our bowls, where not enough spacers were provided to make it as snug as I would have liked. However, it seemed reasonable enough that I didn't think it was going to come loose, and again, the mount is inside the bowl, so it's secure when latched, even if it's a little loose. EFFECTIVENESS: Well, I can say that it manages to bewilder and frustrate grown adults who have come to visit us, so I'm sure that it will cover the vast majority of children who use it. Once you know the trick (lifting up little levers on both sides of it simultaneously), it's very easy to open, so it hasn't bothered us in the slightest. Overall, all I can say is, we bought one, and liked it enough to buy another one for our other bathroom, and proceeded to rid ourselves of the other ones we've bought. This one's a keeper!

I looked into several toilet locks before ordering and I was disappointed that so many of the best-rated products involved more permanent installation. So I found this one and thought it was worth a try. Although I think my son will eventually figure this out (I've seen him try lifting one lever already- probably having seen us do it and he's a good imitator monkey), I'm hoping by then that he'll also understand not to play in the toilet. It takes some coordination to lift both levers at the same time. In fact, my husband and I have horribly enjoyed hearing our family go into the downstairs bathroom and have to call us to show them how to do it- all as they have to use the restroom. LOL! It is not permanent and doesn't seem to be leaving marks on the toilet or lid (of course, if you slammed it down really hard, you might get some marks under the toilet seat itself but we aren't the gentlest family and I don't see anything). If you are a larger person, you might feel the outer part of the arm against your thigh even when it is open, but it doesn't hurt and we've just pushed it towards the front more. I think this is a great option and works well.

I bought this product for two toilets in my house. One toilet has a hard seat and one a soft seat. I assembled them just as the direction said and it seems to lock and hold when I gave it a little tug. (It is so easy to assemble and easy to open and close.) So, I trusted the locks would work. Wrong!!!! I have a three year old and and a 19 month old. I showed my three year old how to use it and she got the idea right away. Well I walk in, the bathroom in my bedroom, to find my 19 month old playing in pee water ( Yuck!) and the lock on the floor!!!! I was so disgusted I put him in a bath and talked to my three year old about flushing after she goes. I asked her if she forgot how to open it and pulled it off the toilet and she said no. I put the lock back on and after my baby's bath I stood him by the toilet to see if he could take the lock off. To my amazement he had that lock off and on the floor in under ten seconds flat! My first thought was defective lock! I took him into the other bathroom and, 'YOU KNOW IT' off went the lock. I just threw them away and am back to shutting the doors and looking for something my three year old can use but my 19 month old can't open or take off. Please, don't buy this product, you will be sorry!

Works on Bidets IF the lid isn’t too thick, mine was on the verge. I like the idea, but it fell apart unlocking it one day and I don’t know how to put it back together. So now it sits in a drawer until I find the instructions. Easier than the clips/belt system to unlock in my opinion. Wish they made a newer easier model.

We tried a couple of different toilet seat locks before we settled on this one. We had some stick on versions that never worked for long, they would install quickly and easily but the stick on portion would never last and they would end up falling off and flapping around. This lock in mechanical meaning there is no sticky tabs or spots to come off. The lock attaches over the rim and holds to the inside lip on the toilet. It was easy to install and includes plastic shims to insure a proper fit on the toilet rim. After it is installed it does still mover around so i can be moved when cleaning the toilet which is nice because if it did not move I do not what to know what would be under it. However this movement does allow the lock to sometimes get under the little foot on the bottom of the lid causing it to rock, but it is easily moved out of the way. The lock secures the lid and the double point lock keeps our some from opening the lid and playing / flushing this down the toilet. He actually likes to flip the lock over and lock the lid, he does not relies that he is locking himself out.

Bought this a couple of weeks ago and really wanted to avoid adhesive products as they haven't worked well on a number of things and we may be moving house in the next few months so this sounded good. I managed to figure out how to attach it in about 3 minutes and (took much less to actually do it). James has pretty much given up on it now so i think we can call it a win now! Much easier to unlock than the adhesive latch type things also, i can do it one handed in one flick but our sons hands are just not big enough to lift both release levers plus the latch itself at teh same time.
